المشروبات الساخنة.. خطر خفي على المريء
At a time when tea and coffee are part of the daily rituals for millions of people, medical studies warn of the dangers of consuming them at very high temperatures, as research has linked very hot beverages to an increased risk of esophageal cancer. The World Health Organization indicates that drinking liquids at temperatures exceeding 65 degrees Celsius causes repeated irritation to the esophageal lining, which increases the likelihood of cells transforming into cancerous cells over the long term. Although warm beverages may provide a sense of comfort and improve mood, the danger of high temperatures lies in the repeated minor burns that a person does not feel at the moment. Experts recommend allowing the drink to cool for a few minutes before consuming it, while moderating intake to avoid side effects of caffeine such as insomnia and stomach disturbances. Studies have also shown that communities accustomed to drinking very hot beverages record higher rates of esophageal cancer. However, doctors do not call for complete abstinence, but rather for greater awareness in regulating temperature and consumption levels. In this way, a cup of coffee or tea transforms from an innocent habit into a behavior that requires greater health awareness to maintain the safety of the digestive system.
