على ارتفاع آلاف الأقدام، وفي سماءٍ هادئة بدت كأنها تمضي وفق جدولٍ لا يعرف المفاجآت، تحوّلت رحلة جوية اعتيادية إلى لحظة استثنائية. وبينما كانت دقائق قليلة تفصل الطائرة عن الهبوط، كسر نداءٌ عاجل صمت المقصورة، لتبدأ قصة تُكتب بين الغيوم، معلنة قدوم «مسافرة» لم تكن مدرجة على لائحة الركاب.
وكانت الرحلة، التي تستغرق نحو خمس ساعات، متجهة من مدينة أتلانتا بولاية جورجيا إلى مدينة بورتلاند بولاية أوريغون، وكان من المقرر وصولها قرابة الساعة العاشرة مساءً بالتوقيت المحلي. إلا أن المولودة قررت القدوم إلى العالم قبل ذلك الموعد بنحو 30 دقيقة، في واقعة غير متوقعة على متن الرحلة.
وأوضحت الشركة، في بيان، أن طاقم الطائرة، إلى جانب عدد من المتطوعين من ذوي الخبرة الطبية بين الركاب، تدخلوا بشكل فوري لتقديم الرعاية اللازمة للأم أثناء الولادة، مثمّنة جهودهم ومهنيتهم في التعامل مع الحالة حتى لحظة الهبوط.
وقد ساهم طبيب وممرضان من بين الركاب، إضافة إلى أفراد طاقم الطائرة، في إتمام عملية الولادة بنجاح، فيما أكدت الشركة أن أطقمها تخضع لتدريب طبي يؤهلها للتعامل مع الحالات الطارئة المشابهة.
كما تم التنسيق مع برج المراقبة لتنفيذ هبوط آمن، حيث كان في انتظار الطائرة فريق طبي مختص لتقديم الرعاية اللازمة للأم وطفلتها فور الوصول.
وأفادت وسائل إعلام أمريكية، (الاثنين)، بأن الأم وطفلتها تتمتعان بصحة جيدة.
At an altitude of thousands of feet, in a calm sky that seemed to follow a schedule without surprises, a routine flight turned into an extraordinary moment. As just a few minutes separated the plane from landing, an urgent call broke the silence of the cabin, beginning a story written among the clouds, announcing the arrival of a "passenger" who was not listed on the passenger list.
The flight, which lasted about five hours, was headed from Atlanta, Georgia, to Portland, Oregon, and was scheduled to arrive around 10 PM local time. However, the newborn decided to enter the world about 30 minutes before that scheduled time, in an unexpected incident aboard the flight.
The airline stated in a statement that the flight crew, along with several volunteers with medical experience among the passengers, immediately intervened to provide the necessary care to the mother during childbirth, appreciating their efforts and professionalism in handling the situation until the moment of landing.
A doctor and two nurses among the passengers, in addition to the flight crew, successfully assisted in the delivery, while the airline confirmed that its crews undergo medical training that qualifies them to handle similar emergency situations.
Coordination was also made with the control tower to ensure a safe landing, where a specialized medical team was waiting for the plane to provide the necessary care for the mother and her baby upon arrival.
American media reported on Monday that both the mother and her baby are in good health.
