لقي 14 شخصاً مصرعهم، بينهم الطيار، إثر تحطم طائرة صغيرة بالقرب من العاصمة جوبا في جنوب السودان، وفق ما أعلنت هيئة الطيران المدني المحلية، أمس (الإثنين).
وأوضحت الهيئة في بيان أن الطائرة من طراز «سيسنا» أقلعت من مطار جوبا الدولي عند الساعة 7:15 صباحاً بتوقيت غرينتش، قبل أن تتحطم على بعد نحو 20 كيلومتراً من العاصمة، دون تسجيل أي ناجين بين الركاب.
وبيّنت أن الطائرة كانت تقل 14 شخصاً، بينهم 12 من جنوب السودان وراكبان من كينيا.
وفي موقع الحادث، قال أحد أعضاء فريق الإنقاذ التابع للأمم المتحدة إن الجثث كانت متفحمة بشكل كبير، ما صعّب عملية التعرف عليها.
وأشارت هيئة الطيران المدني إلى أن المعطيات الأولية ترجّح أن سوء الأحوال الجوية وانخفاض مستوى الرؤية كانا عاملين محتملين في وقوع الحادث، فيما لا تزال التحقيقات جارية لتحديد الأسباب الدقيقة.
Fourteen people, including the pilot, died when a small plane crashed near the capital Juba in South Sudan, according to the local civil aviation authority, announced yesterday (Monday).
The authority stated in a statement that the Cessna aircraft took off from Juba International Airport at 7:15 AM GMT, before crashing about 20 kilometers from the capital, with no survivors among the passengers.
It indicated that the plane was carrying 14 people, including 12 from South Sudan and two passengers from Kenya.
At the crash site, a member of the United Nations rescue team said that the bodies were severely charred, making identification difficult.
The civil aviation authority noted that initial data suggests that bad weather and low visibility were potential factors in the incident, while investigations are still ongoing to determine the exact causes.
