كشفت وزارة الصحة الكويتية أمس (الأربعاء) وفاة 13 شخصاً، وتسجيل 21 حالة إصابة بعمى دائم أو تأثر بالبصر، ضمن 63 حالة تسمم كحولي، مشيرة إلى أن جميع الحالات المصابة من جنسيات آسيوية.
وقالت وزارة الصحة، في بيان لها عبر موقعها على «x»، إن مستشفياتها تعاملت منذ السبت الماضي مع 63 حالة تسمم كحولي ناتج عن تناول مشروبات ملوثة بمادة الميثانول، وذلك بتنسيق فوري ومستمر بين المستشفيات ومركز الكويت لمراقبة السموم، وبالتعاون مع الجهات الأمنية والجهات المعنية في البلاد.
وأوضحت الوزارة أن الحالات تنوعت في شدة الأعراض، إذ استدعى الأمر إدخال عدد منها إلى أقسام العناية المركزة، حيث تطلبت 31 حالة استخدام أجهزة التنفس الاصطناعي، فيما استدعت 51 حالة جلسات غسل كلوي عاجلة، كما سُجلت 21 حالة إصابة بعمى دائم أو تأثر بالبصر. وأسفرت الإصابات حتى الآن عن 13 حالة وفاة، جميعهم من جنسيات آسيوية.
وأكدت وزارة الصحة الكويتية استمرارها في متابعة جميع الحالات على مدار الساعة، والتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية، لضمان توفير الرعاية الطبية اللازمة، داعية إلى الإبلاغ الفوري عن أي حالات اشتباه بالتسمم، عبر المستشفيات أو الخطوط الساخنة المعتمدة.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health revealed yesterday (Wednesday) the death of 13 individuals and the registration of 21 cases of permanent blindness or vision impairment, among 63 cases of alcohol poisoning, noting that all affected individuals are of Asian nationalities.
The Ministry of Health stated in a statement on its website on "x" that its hospitals have been dealing with 63 cases of alcohol poisoning resulting from the consumption of beverages contaminated with methanol since last Saturday, with immediate and continuous coordination between the hospitals and the Kuwait Poison Control Center, in cooperation with security agencies and relevant authorities in the country.
The ministry explained that the cases varied in the severity of symptoms, requiring the admission of some to intensive care units, with 31 cases needing the use of ventilators, while 51 cases required urgent dialysis sessions. Additionally, 21 cases of permanent blindness or vision impairment have been recorded. So far, the injuries have resulted in 13 deaths, all of whom are of Asian nationalities.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health confirmed its ongoing monitoring of all cases around the clock and coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the provision of necessary medical care, urging immediate reporting of any suspected poisoning cases through hospitals or approved hotlines.
