بعد عقود من الجدل والقصص الغامضة، أعلن العالم الأسترالي كارل كروزلنيكي أنه توصل إلى تفسير علمي ومنطقي لاختفاء السفن والطائرات في مثلث برمودا، مسقطًا فرضيات الكائنات الفضائية والمدن المفقودة والبوابات الزمنية.
وأوضح كروزلنيكي، الذي يدرس الظاهرة منذ سنوات، أن المنطقة الواقعة بين فلوريدا وبرمودا وجزر الأنتيل الكبرى ليست أكثر خطورة من أي منطقة بحرية أخرى في العالم، لكنها تُعد من أكثر المساحات البحرية ازدحامًا بحركة الملاحة والطيران، وهو ما يرفع احتمالات وقوع الحوادث.
وأشار إلى أن البيانات التي أصدرتها الإدارة الوطنية للمحيطات والغلاف الجوي، وشركة التأمين العالمية لويدز لندن، منذ سبعينيات القرن الماضي، تؤكد عدم وجود أي زيادة غير طبيعية في معدلات الحوادث داخل المثلث، مقارنة بمناطق أخرى مشابهة.
ويرى كروزلنيكي أن الظاهرة تعود إلى مزيج من العوامل، أبرزها الازدحام الملاحي الشديد الذي يجعل المنطقة مسرحًا يوميًا لمرور مئات السفن والطائرات، إضافةً إلى الطقس المتقلب نتيجة تيار الخليج السريع والقوي، ما يؤدي إلى تغيرات مفاجئة في الأجواء قد تتحول من صفاء استوائي إلى عواصف عاتية خلال دقائق، وكذلك الأخطاء البشرية التي تصبح أكثر خطورة في بيئة معقدة جغرافيًا مليئة بالجزر والممرات الضيقة.
كما أن طبيعة المياه العميقة في المنطقة، وصعوبة عمليات البحث والإنقاذ، تسهم في تضخيم صورة الغموض حول حالات الاختفاء، حيث غالبًا ما يصعب العثور على الحطام أو الجثث.
ورغم هذه التفسيرات العلمية، يعترف كروزلنيكي بأن الأساطير المحيطة بمثلث برمودا ستظل حاضرة في المخيلة الشعبية، لأن الحديث عن أتلانتس المفقودة أو الكائنات الفضائية أكثر إثارة وتشويقًا من الحقائق الإحصائية الجافة.
After decades of debate and mysterious stories, Australian scientist Karl Kruszelnicki announced that he has reached a scientific and logical explanation for the disappearance of ships and planes in the Bermuda Triangle, dismissing theories about extraterrestrial beings, lost cities, and time portals.
Kruszelnicki, who has been studying the phenomenon for years, explained that the area between Florida, Bermuda, and the Greater Antilles is no more dangerous than any other maritime area in the world, but it is considered one of the busiest maritime spaces in terms of navigation and air traffic, which increases the likelihood of accidents.
He pointed out that data released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the global insurance company Lloyd's of London since the 1970s confirms that there is no abnormal increase in accident rates within the triangle compared to other similar areas.
Kruszelnicki believes that the phenomenon is due to a combination of factors, the most prominent of which is the heavy maritime traffic that makes the area a daily stage for the passage of hundreds of ships and planes, in addition to the unpredictable weather resulting from the fast and strong Gulf Stream, which leads to sudden changes in conditions that can shift from tropical calm to violent storms within minutes, as well as human errors that become more dangerous in a geographically complex environment filled with islands and narrow passages.
Additionally, the nature of the deep waters in the area and the difficulty of search and rescue operations contribute to amplifying the image of mystery surrounding the cases of disappearance, as it is often challenging to find wreckage or bodies.
Despite these scientific explanations, Kruszelnicki acknowledges that the myths surrounding the Bermuda Triangle will remain present in popular imagination, as discussions about the lost Atlantis or extraterrestrial beings are more exciting and thrilling than dry statistical facts.
