تحولت رحلة بحرية إلى حادثة مرعبة قبالة سواحل مقاطعة سولاوسي الشمالية الإندونيسية، حين اشتعلت النيران (الأحد) في عبّارة الركاب «برشلونة» وعلى متنها 280 شخصاً، أثناء رحلتها من أحد الموانئ في منطقة جزر تالاود إلى مدينة مانادو عاصمة الإقليم، ما أجبر العشرات على القفز في الماء للنجاة بأنفسهم وسط حالة من الذعر والفوضى.
وأكدت البحرية الإندونيسية إجلاء جميع ركاب السفينة كي إم 3 برشلونة بسلام، عقب اندلاع حريق على متنها بعد ظهر (الأحد) في مياه مقاطعة سولاويسي الشمالية.
وقال نائب الأدميرال دينيه هندراتا، قائد أسطول البحرية الإندونيسية، في تصريح لوكالة الأنباء الإندونيسية «أنتارا» اليوم: «نؤكد إنه تم إجلاء جميع ركاب السفينة».
وفي غضون ذلك، أفاد قائد القاعدة البحرية الثامنة مانادو، الكومودور بحري ماي فرانكي باسونا سيهومبينج، بأن الجنود تمكنوا من إجلاء 280 راكباً، غير أن ثلاثة من الركاب لقوا حتفهم.
وأوضح سيهومبينج أن من بين 280 راكباً حتى الآن تم تسجيل ثلاث حالات وفاة، لم تكن ناجمة عن الحريق، بل بسبب المرض، مضيفاً أن فريق الإنقاذ لا يزال يفتش السفينة المحترقة للتأكد من عدم وجود ركاب آخرين على متنها.
A cruise turned into a terrifying incident off the northern coast of Indonesia's North Sulawesi province when a fire broke out (on Sunday) on the passenger ferry "Barcelona," which was carrying 280 people, during its journey from one of the ports in the Talaud Islands to the city of Manado, the provincial capital, forcing dozens to jump into the water to save themselves amid panic and chaos.
The Indonesian Navy confirmed the safe evacuation of all passengers from the KM 3 Barcelona ship after a fire broke out on board on Sunday afternoon in the waters of North Sulawesi province.
Vice Admiral Dinih Hendrata, commander of the Indonesian Navy fleet, stated in a statement to the Indonesian news agency "Antara" today: "We confirm that all passengers have been evacuated from the ship."
Meanwhile, the commander of the eighth naval base in Manado, Commodore Marine Mai Frankie Pasuna Sihombing, reported that the soldiers managed to evacuate 280 passengers, but three of the passengers lost their lives.
Sihombing clarified that among the 280 passengers, three deaths have been recorded so far, which were not caused by the fire but due to illness, adding that the rescue team is still searching the burned ship to ensure that no other passengers are on board.
