في إنجاز طبي نوعي، تمكن فريق طبي سعودي في مستشفى الملك فهد العام بجدة – أحد المرافق التابعة لتجمع جدة الصحي الثاني – من استئصال ورم نادر ومعقد في قاع الجمجمة لمريض كان يعاني من ضغط شديد على جذع الدماغ والأعصاب القحفية. وقد أُجريت العملية على ثلاث مراحل متتالية، واستغرقت مجتمعة نحو ٣٥ ساعة.
قاد الفريق الجراحي الدكتور هاني القرشي، واستُخدمت في العملية تقنيات دقيقة ومتقدمة لا تُجرى إلا في عدد محدود من المراكز الطبية العالمية. وبفضل جهود الفريق، تعافى المريض بشكل كامل دون تسجيل أي مضاعفات عصبية.
شارك في تنفيذ هذا الإنجاز عدد من الأطباء المقيمين ضمن برنامج الزمالة السعودية لجراحة المخ والأعصاب، وهم: الدكتور عبدالعزيز باصرة، والدكتورة ديمة السحلي، والدكتورة مريم عناني، والدكتور زياد الزهراني. كما شارك في التخدير كل من الدكتور زكريا شوقي والدكتور أحمد الحليلي، إلى جانب طاقم تمريضي متمكن ضم الأستاذ يوسف المطيري والممرضتين ميني توماس وبريا.
In a significant medical achievement, a Saudi medical team at King Fahd General Hospital in Jeddah – one of the facilities affiliated with the Jeddah Health Cluster II – successfully removed a rare and complex tumor at the base of the skull from a patient who was suffering from severe pressure on the brainstem and cranial nerves. The surgery was performed in three consecutive stages, taking a total of about 35 hours.
The surgical team was led by Dr. Hani Al-Qurashi, and advanced and precise techniques were used in the operation that are only performed in a limited number of global medical centers. Thanks to the team's efforts, the patient fully recovered without any recorded neurological complications.
A number of resident doctors participated in this achievement as part of the Saudi Fellowship Program in Neurosurgery, including Dr. Abdulaziz Baserah, Dr. Dima Al-Suhaili, Dr. Mariam Anani, and Dr. Ziad Al-Zahrani. Anesthesia was administered by Dr. Zakaria Shawqi and Dr. Ahmad Al-Halili, along with a skilled nursing team that included Mr. Yusuf Al-Mutairi and nurses Mini Thomas and Brea.
