ثار بركان ليوتوبي صباح اليوم في جزيرة فلوريس شرق إندونيسيا، مطلقاً سحباً كثيفة من الرماد البركاني إلى ارتفاع بلغ نحو 19 كيلومتراً في السماء. وأعلنت هيئة الجيولوجيا الإندونيسية رفع مستوى التحذير إلى الدرجة القصوى، مع توسيع نطاق المنطقة المحظورة حول الفوهة إلى دائرة نصف قطرها 7 كيلومترات.
وأدى الثوران إلى إلغاء أو تأجيل عدد من الرحلات الجوية الدولية، خصوصاً من جزيرة بالي، رغم أن البركان يقع في فلوريس، وذلك بسبب احتمال انتقال الرماد البركاني مع الرياح إلى مسارات الطيران.
ويبلغ ارتفاع بركان ليوتوبي نحو 1584 متراً فوق سطح البحر، ويعد من البراكين النشطة في المنطقة.
The Liyutobi volcano erupted this morning on Flores Island in eastern Indonesia, releasing thick clouds of volcanic ash to a height of about 19 kilometers into the sky. The Indonesian Geological Agency announced that the alert level has been raised to the maximum, expanding the restricted area around the crater to a radius of 7 kilometers.
The eruption has led to the cancellation or postponement of several international flights, particularly from Bali, even though the volcano is located in Flores, due to the possibility of volcanic ash being carried by the winds to flight paths.
The height of the Liyutobi volcano is approximately 1584 meters above sea level, and it is considered one of the active volcanoes in the region.
