شهدت منطقة جبل الزيت في خليج السويس، شمال محافظة البحر الأحمر، كارثة بحرية مأساوية مساء الثلاثاء، حيث غرق حفار البترول «إد مارين 12» أثناء عملية قطره بواسطة ثلاث وحدات بحرية لنقله إلى موقع عمل جديد بمنطقة منصة الأشرفي، ما أسفر عن مصرع أربعة أشخاص وإنقاذ 21 من أفراد الطاقم، فيما تتواصل جهود البحث عن ستة آخرين في عداد المفقودين، وسط مخاوف من تسرب نفطي قد يهدد النظام البيئي للبحر الأحمر.
ووفقا لبيان صادر عن وزارة البترول والثروة المعدنية، تلقت الوزارة بلاغا عاجلا من شركة «أوسوكو» لإنتاج النفط والغاز، يفيد بانقلاب الحفار «إد مارين 12»، التابع لشركة «أديس القابضة» السعودية، أثناء نقله، وتوجه وزير البترول كريم بدوي ووزير العمل محمد جبران على رأس فريق من قيادات الوزارتين إلى موقع الحادث لمتابعة عمليات الإنقاذ، التي تقودها شركة «جابكو» (بترول خليج السويس) بمساندة القوات البحرية المصرية.
وتشير المعلومات الأولية إلى أن الحفار، الذي كان يحمل طاقما يراوح بين 30 و31 فردا من الفنيين والمهندسين المصريين والأجانب، تعرض لخلل فني مفاجئ في نظام التوازن أثناء عملية القطر، ما أدى إلى ميلانه وغرقه في غضون دقائق، وكشفت مصادر أن الحفار كان يحمل حوالى 200 طن من الوقود الثقيل (المازوت) و50 طنا من الديزل البحري، ما يثير مخاوف من تلوث بحري محتمل يهدد الشعاب المرجانية والسياحة في البحر الأحمر.
تُعد منطقة جبل الزيت في خليج السويس إحدى أهم المناطق البترولية في مصر، حيث تضم حقول نفط وغاز تديرها شركات مثل «جابكو» و«بتروبل» و«إيني» الإيطالية، ويُعد حقل الأشرفي، وجهة الحفار «إد مارين 12»، جزءا من مشاريع تطوير الغاز الطبيعي التي تهدف إلى زيادة إنتاج مصر بمعدل 80 مليون قدم مكعب يوميا، ما يدعم الاكتفاء الذاتي وتصدير الفائض.
وتلقى برج البحرية التابع لشركة «جابكو» إشارة استغاثة فورية، ما دفع الشركة لنشر لنشات سريعة ومراكب دعم بحري، إلى جانب طائرتين لتكثيف البحث عن المفقودين، وقد تم نقل الناجين، الذين يعانون من كسور وكدمات وصدمات نفسية، إلى الوحدات البحرية «لورد جي» و«إدكو رشيد»، ثم إلى مستشفيات رأس غارب والغردقة لتلقي العلاج.
وأثارت الواقعة موجة من القلق على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، حيث تداول مستخدمون على «X» أنباء الحادث مع تعليقات مثل «كارثة جديدة تهدد البحر الأحمر!» و«مطالبات بمحاسبة المسؤولين عن سلامة الحفار» كما دعا ناشطون بيئيون إلى اتخاذ إجراءات فورية لاحتواء أي تسرب نفطي محتمل، مشيرين إلى أهمية البحر الأحمر كوجهة سياحية عالمية تضم أكثر من 1200 نوع من الأسماك و200 نوع من المرجان.

This resulted in the death of four people and the rescue of 21 crew members, while efforts continue to search for six others who are missing, amid fears of an oil spill that could threaten the Red Sea's ecosystem.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the ministry received an urgent report from the "Osoco" oil and gas production company, indicating the capsizing of the "Ed Marine 12" rig, which belongs to the Saudi "Adis Holding" company, during its transfer. Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawy and Minister of Labor Mohamed Ghabran headed a team of leaders from both ministries to the accident site to follow up on the rescue operations, which are led by "GAPCO" (Gulf of Suez Petroleum) with the support of the Egyptian naval forces.
Initial information indicates that the rig, which was carrying a crew of between 30 and 31 technicians and engineers, both Egyptian and foreign, experienced a sudden technical failure in the stabilization system during the towing operation, leading to its tilt and sinking within minutes. Sources revealed that the rig was carrying about 200 tons of heavy fuel (mazout) and 50 tons of marine diesel, raising concerns about potential marine pollution that threatens coral reefs and tourism in the Red Sea.
The Mount Zeit area in the Gulf of Suez is considered one of the most important oil regions in Egypt, as it includes oil and gas fields managed by companies such as "GAPCO," "Petrobel," and the Italian "Eni." The Ashrafi field, the destination of the "Ed Marine 12" rig, is part of natural gas development projects aimed at increasing Egypt's production by 80 million cubic feet per day, supporting self-sufficiency and exporting the surplus.
The GAPCO marine tower received an immediate distress signal, prompting the company to deploy fast boats and marine support vessels, along with two aircraft to intensify the search for the missing. The survivors, who suffered from fractures, bruises, and psychological trauma, were transferred to the marine units "Lord G" and "Edku Rashid," and then to hospitals in Ras Gharib and Hurghada for treatment.
The incident has sparked a wave of concern on social media, where users on "X" circulated news of the accident with comments such as "A new disaster threatens the Red Sea!" and "Calls for accountability for those responsible for the safety of the rig." Environmental activists have also called for immediate action to contain any potential oil spill, highlighting the importance of the Red Sea as a global tourist destination that hosts more than 1,200 species of fish and 200 species of coral.
