Chinese researchers have warned of the discovery of new viruses in bats that are likely to be more dangerous than the coronavirus, following a study conducted on 142 bats in Yunnan Province. The scientific team explained that two of the discovered viruses belong to the "Henipavirus" family, known for causing deadly diseases such as "Nipah" and "Hendra," which have fatality rates of up to 75%.

The report indicated that the transmission of these viruses could occur through urine, saliva, or contaminated food, increasing the likelihood of their spread among humans. Researchers pointed out that one of the discovered viruses carries genetic traits indicating a high ability to infect humans, calling for strict monitoring and continuous analysis of animal viruses.

This discovery underscores the importance of enhancing early warning systems, especially in areas where bats live, to prevent the potential emergence of future pandemics that could be more lethal than COVID-19.
