اندلع حريق هائل اليوم (الأحد) في فندق «قلب العالم» أشهر فنادق العاصمة العراقية بغداد وأحدثها، في منطقة الجادرية الراقية وسط المدينة، الذي يُعدّ أحد أبرز الفنادق التي استضافت وفود القمة العربية الأخيرة في مايو الماضي.
وبدأ الحريق في الفندق بشكل مفاجئ، وتسبب في أضرار مادية كبيرة في المبنى، لكن لحسن الحظ لم تسجل أي خسائر بشرية حتى الآن، وفقاً لتقارير رسمية ومصادر أمنية، واندلع الحريق في ساعات الظهيرة، حيث تصاعدت ألسنة اللهب وأعمدة الدخان الكثيف من عدة طوابق في الفندق، ما أثار حالة من الذعر بين سكان المنطقة والعاملين في المبنى.
ووفقاً لمصادر أمنية، هرعت فرق الدفاع المدني العراقية إلى موقع الحادثة بسرعة، حيث تمكنت من تطويق النيران ومنع امتدادها إلى المباني المجاورة، وقد أظهرت مقاطع فيديو متداولة على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي شدة الحريق، مع تصاعد الدخان الأسود الذي غطى سماء المنطقة.
ويعتبر الفندق، الذي افتتحه رئيس الوزراء العراقي محمد شياع السوداني في 11 مايو الماضي، رمزاً حديثاً في العاصمة، حيث تم تجهيزه بمركز صحفي متكامل لتغطية فعاليات القمة العربية، ومع ذلك، أثارت بعض المنشورات على منصة «إكس» تساؤلات حول أنظمة الأمان والإطفاء في المبنى، مشيرة إلى احتمال استخدام مواد بناء قابلة للاشتعال، مثل ألواح الساندويتش بانل، التي ربما ساهمت في سرعة انتشار النيران.
ويقع فندق «قلب العالم» في منطقة الجادرية، وهي إحدى المناطق الحيوية في بغداد التي تضم العديد من المؤسسات الحكومية والسفارات، وصمم الفندق ليكون وجهة فاخرة لاستقبال الوفود الرسمية والفعاليات الدولية، ما يجعله رمزاً للتقدم العمراني في العراق بعد سنوات من التحديات الأمنية والاقتصادية.
ويأتي الحريق في وقت يشهد فيه العراق تحسناً نسبياً في الاستقرار الأمني، لكنه يثير تساؤلات حول معايير السلامة في المباني الحديثة، وحتى الآن لم تُعرف الأسباب الدقيقة للحريق، حيث أعلنت الجهات المختصة فتح تحقيق عاجل لتحديد مصدر الاشتعال وتقييم حجم الأضرار.
A massive fire broke out today (Sunday) at the "Heart of the World" hotel, the most famous and newest hotel in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, located in the upscale Jadriya area in the city center. The "Heart of the World" hotel is located in the Jadriya area, one of the vital areas in Baghdad that houses many government institutions and embassies. The hotel was designed to be a luxurious destination for receiving official delegations and international events, making it a symbol of urban progress in Iraq after years of security and economic challenges.
