In a season when souls head to the ancient house, Abdul Rahim Amin Bukhari was inscribing with his hand and heart sacred phrases on the curtain of the honored Kaaba. An exceptional calligrapher from Mecca, he dedicated his talent to serving the holy sanctuary, writing his name in letters of light in the memory of Mecca and pilgrimage.
He was born, may God have mercy on him, in the year 1335 AH in Mecca, and practiced the art of calligraphy from a young age, until he joined the Kiswa House in the year 1350 AH. According to the King Abdulaziz Foundation, he contributed to the creation of the decorations and scripts that adorn the Kaaba and its doors, especially the door that King Abdulaziz ordered to be made – may God have mercy on him.
From the decorations of the Saudi flags to the Kiswa of the Kaaba and its curtains, Bukhari inscribed the majesty of the letter, and he had the honor of executing the scripts on the door of the Kaaba that was commissioned by King Khalid in the year 1399 AH, leaving his mark alive in every season, renewed with every Kiswa, seen by the eyes and revered by the hearts.
He was not just a calligrapher, but a creator of beauty and dignity, reshaping the letter in the holiest place, making his works a constant presence accompanying pilgrims and those who circumambulate.
He passed away in the year 1418 AH, yet his impact remains alive on the curtains of the Kaaba and in the memory of history.
