أعلنت الخطوط الجوية البريطانية، اليوم (الجمعة)، تعليق جميع رحلاتها من وإلى تل أبيب حتى نهاية يوليو 2025، مشيرة إلى أن القرار جاء بسبب المخاوف الأمنية المتصاعدة في إسرائيل نتيجة التوترات الإقليمية المستمرة.
وقالت شركة الخطوط الجوية البريطانية في بيان رسمي إنها «تراقب الوضع الأمني عن كثب»، مؤكدة أنها ستوفر خيارات للعملاء المتأثرين، بما في ذلك استرداد كامل المبالغ المدفوعة أو إعادة الحجز على رحلات لاحقة.
ويعكس القرار حالة عدم اليقين التي تسيطر على قطاع الطيران الدولي تجاه إسرائيل، حيث أدت التوترات المستمرة إلى تعليق العديد من شركات الطيران لرحلاتها.
وكان مطار بن غوريون قد شهد توقفًا مؤقتًا لعمليات الإقلاع والهبوط لمدة 30 دقيقة في أكتوبر 2024، بعد اعتراض الجيش الإسرائيلي خمس طائرات مسيرة فوق البحر المتوسط، مما زاد من حدة المخاوف.
ومنذ اندلاع الحرب الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة في أكتوبر 2023، واجهت صناعة الطيران تحديات كبيرة في المنطقة، حيث ألغت العديد من شركات الطيران الدولية رحلاتها إلى إسرائيل بشكل متكرر بسبب إغلاق المجال الجوي أو المخاطر الأمنية.
وتشمل الشركات التي مددت تعليق رحلاتها حتى تواريخ لاحقة «دلتا إيرلاينز» التي أعلنت إلغاء رحلاتها إلى تل أبيب حتى 31 يوليو، مع مراقبة مستمرة للوضع الأمني، و«يونايتد إيرلاينز» التي علقت رحلاتها حتى 12 يونيو، مع إلغاءات متجددة بناءً على تقييمات الأمن، وشركة «لوفتهانزا» الألمانية التي أوقفت رحلاتها حتى 8 يونيو، بما في ذلك الشركات التابعة لها مثل سويس وأوستريان إيرلاينز.
وكانت شركة «إير فرانس» الفرنسية مدت تعليق رحلاتها حتى 21 مايو، بينما توقفت شركة ترانسافيا التابعة لها حتى نفس التاريخ، وشركة «رايان إير» ألغت رحلاتها حتى 5 يونيو مع خطط لرفع أسعار التذاكر عالميًا نتيجة الاضطرابات، والخطوط الجوية الكندية «إير كندا» أرجأت استئناف رحلاتها حتى سبتمبر 2025، فيما اعتبرته أطول فترة تعليق بين الشركات الكبرى، كما أعلنت «فيرجن أتلانتيك» في مايو الجاري إلغاء رحلاتها إلى تل أبيب نهائيًا، مشيرة إلى المخاطر المستمرة بعد الحرب على غزة.
British Airways announced today (Friday) the suspension of all its flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of July 2025, citing that the decision was made due to escalating security concerns in Israel as a result of ongoing regional tensions.
The airline stated in an official statement that it is "closely monitoring the security situation," confirming that it will provide options for affected customers, including full refunds or rebooking on later flights.
The decision reflects the uncertainty prevailing in the international aviation sector regarding Israel, as ongoing tensions have led many airlines to suspend their flights.
Ben Gurion Airport experienced a temporary halt to takeoffs and landings for 30 minutes in October 2024, after the Israeli military intercepted five drones over the Mediterranean Sea, which heightened concerns.
Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the aviation industry has faced significant challenges in the region, with many international airlines repeatedly canceling their flights to Israel due to airspace closures or security risks.
Among the airlines that have extended their flight suspensions to later dates are Delta Airlines, which announced the cancellation of its flights to Tel Aviv until July 31, with ongoing monitoring of the security situation, and United Airlines, which suspended its flights until June 12, with renewed cancellations based on security assessments, as well as the German airline Lufthansa, which halted its flights until June 8, including its subsidiaries such as Swiss and Austrian Airlines.
Air France has extended its flight suspension until May 21, while its subsidiary Transavia has also suspended flights until the same date. Ryanair canceled its flights until June 5, with plans to raise ticket prices globally due to the disruptions, and Canadian Airlines Air Canada postponed the resumption of its flights until September 2025, which is considered the longest suspension period among major airlines. Additionally, Virgin Atlantic announced in May the permanent cancellation of its flights to Tel Aviv, citing ongoing risks following the war in Gaza.
