ودّع المنتخب الكويتي منافسات كأس الخليج العربي «خليجي 27» رسميًا، بعدما تلقى خسارته الثانية على التوالي في دور المجموعات، إثر هزيمته أمام العراق بنتيجة 2-3، مساء اليوم السبت.
وجاءت الخسارة في الجولة الثانية من منافسات المجموعة الأولى، بعدما استهل «الأزرق» مشواره في البطولة بهزيمة أمام المنتخب السعودي بهدف دون مقابل.
وبهذه النتيجة، بقي رصيد المنتخب الكويتي خاليًا من النقاط بعد جولتين، ليفقد رسميًا فرصته في المنافسة على إحدى بطاقتي التأهل إلى الدور نصف النهائي من البطولة، المقامة حاليًا في مدينة جدة بالمملكة العربية السعودية.
وباتت مواجهة الكويت أمام عُمان، في الجولة الثالثة والأخيرة من دور المجموعات، تحصيلًا حاصلًا بالنسبة إلى حسابات التأهل، بعدما حسمت نتائج الجولتين الأولى والثانية مصير «الأزرق» وأخرجته رسميًا من المنافسة.
ويبحث المنتخب الكويتي خلال مواجهته الأخيرة عن إنهاء مشاركته في البطولة بنتيجة إيجابية، فيما يسعى المنتخب العُماني إلى تعزيز حظوظه في المنافسة على بطاقة التأهل إلى الدور نصف النهائي.
The Kuwaiti national team officially bid farewell to the Gulf Cup "Gulf 27" after suffering its second consecutive loss in the group stage, following a defeat against Iraq with a score of 2-3, on Saturday evening.
The loss came in the second round of the first group matches, after "Al-Azraq" began its campaign in the tournament with a defeat against the Saudi national team by one goal to none.
With this result, the Kuwaiti national team's points tally remains empty after two rounds, officially losing its chance to compete for one of the two qualification spots for the semi-finals of the tournament, currently taking place in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The upcoming match between Kuwait and Oman in the third and final round of the group stage has become a mere formality regarding qualification calculations, as the results of the first and second rounds have determined the fate of "Al-Azraq" and officially eliminated it from the competition.
In its final match, the Kuwaiti national team is looking to end its participation in the tournament with a positive result, while the Omani national team aims to enhance its chances of competing for a qualification spot in the semi-finals.
