يتمسك منتخبنا الوطني للشباب بأمله الضعيف نحو التأهل للدور الثاني من كأس العالم تحت 20 عاماً عندما يخوض مباراة صعبة ومصيرية أمام منتخب النرويج عند تمام الساعة الثانية من فجر غدٍ (الإثنين) في ختام دور المجموعات للمجموعة السادسة في مونديال تشيلي للشباب.
وفي الوقت الذي أعلن فيه موقع الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) أن منتخبنا الوطني السعودي أول المغادرين في كأس العالم تحت 20 عاماً لكرة القدم المقامة حالياً في تشيلي، إلا أنه أخطأ في هذا الأمر، إذ ما زال الأخضر السعودي يملك الآمال لبلوغ الدور الثاني.
وينص نظام الاتحاد الدولي في هذا المونديال على أنه في حال انتهت مرحلة المجموعات بتساوي فريقين أو أكثر في عدد النقاط داخل المجموعة، يتم اللجوء إلى المعايير التالية، وفق الترتيب، لتحديد المراكز: أكبر عدد من النقاط التي تم تحقيقها في مباريات المجموعة بين الفرق المعنية، فارق الأهداف الأفضل الناتج عن مباريات المجموعة بين الفرق المعنية، أكبر عدد من الأهداف المسجَّلة في جميع مباريات المجموعة بين الفرق المعنية.
وإذا ما أراد نجوم الأخضر التأهل للدور الثاني فلا بد من الفوز على النرويج بفارق هدفين (2/0 على سبيل المثال)، وخسارة نيجيريا من كولومبيا (1/0 على أقل تقدير).
ليصبح الترتيب كالتالي: كولومبيا 7 نقاط ويتأهل كمتصدر للمجموعة، النرويج 4 نقاط ويتأهل ثانياً، ومن ثم يتساوى منتخبنا الوطني مع نيجيريا نقطياً، 3 لكل منهما، ويُنظر لفارق الأهداف، إذ سيملك حينها الأخضر 4 وعليه 4 (0)، فيما يملك نيجيريا 3 وعليه 4 (-1)، وفي هذه الحالة يقفز منتخبنا للمركز الثالث. وبالنظر لنتائج المنتخبات الأخرى فإن مصر وأستراليا يملكان 3 نقاط وفارق الأهداف (-2)، فحينها سيتفوق الأخضر عليهما ويتأهل ضمن أفضل ثوالث.
فيما ضمن منتخبا كوريا الجنوبية (4 نقاط)، وإسبانيا (4 نقاط) مقعديهما كأفضل ثالث. وفي المجموعة الخامسة باتت المنتخبات الثلاثة (الولايات المتحدة، وجنوب أفريقيا، وفرنسا) هي الأقرب للتأهل؛ لوجود الحلقة الأضعف منتخب كاليدونيا الجديدة، الذي خسر من الولايات المتحدة (9/1)، ومن جنوب أفريقيا (4/0).

Our national youth team clings to its slim hope of qualifying for the second round of the Under-20 World Cup as it faces a difficult and decisive match against Norway at exactly 2 AM tomorrow (Monday) in the final group stage of Group 6 in the Chile Youth World Cup.
While the FIFA website announced that our Saudi national team was the first to be eliminated from the Under-20 World Cup currently taking place in Chile, it was mistaken in this regard, as the Saudi Green still has hopes of reaching the second round.
The FIFA regulations for this tournament state that if the group stage ends with two or more teams tied on points within the group, the following criteria will be used, in order, to determine the rankings: the highest number of points earned in matches between the tied teams, the best goal difference resulting from matches between the tied teams, and the highest number of goals scored in all matches between the tied teams.
If the stars of the Green want to qualify for the second round, they must win against Norway by a margin of two goals (2-0, for example), and Nigeria must lose to Colombia (1-0 at least).
This would result in the following standings: Colombia with 7 points qualifying as the group leader, Norway with 4 points qualifying second, and then our national team would be tied with Nigeria on points, each having 3. The goal difference would then be considered, as the Green would have 4 goals scored and 4 conceded (0), while Nigeria would have 3 scored and 4 conceded (-1). In this case, our team would move up to third place. Looking at the results of other teams, Egypt and Australia both have 3 points with a goal difference of (-2), so the Green would surpass them and qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
Meanwhile, South Korea (4 points) and Spain (4 points) have secured their spots as the best third-placed teams. In Group 5, the three teams (the United States, South Africa, and France) are the closest to qualifying, due to the weaker link, New Caledonia, which lost to the United States (9-1) and to South Africa (4-0).
