واصل النجم البرتغالي كريستيانو رونالدو، لاعب النصر، التشكيك في مصداقية جائزة الكرة الذهبية، التي تُمنح سنوياً لأفضل لاعب في العالم من قِبل مجلة «فرانس فوتبول» بالتعاون مع الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم (يويفا).
وفي مقابلة مع قناة «سبورت تي في» البرتغالية، عندما سُئل عن توقعاته للفائز بالجائزة هذا العام، أجاب رونالدو قائلاً: «إنها مجرد وهم»، مؤكداً عدم ثقته بمصداقية هذه الجائزة الفردية الأشهر في عالم كرة القدم.
وكان رونالدو قد وجّه انتقاداً لاذعاً للجائزة في عام 2024 بعد فوز لاعب مانشستر سيتي، رودري، بها، متفوقاً على فينيسيوس جونيور نجم ريال مدريد، إذ قال حينها: «لا توجد مصداقية، كان من المفترض أن يفوز فينيسيوس بالجائزة، لقد شعرت بشعوره هذا مرات عديدة».
وشهدت قائمة المرشحين لجائزة الكرة الذهبية لعام 2025 غياب كل من كريستيانو رونالدو وليونيل ميسي، للمرة الثانية خلال 22 عاماً.
ويُعد ميسي اللاعب الأكثر تتويجًا بالجائزة برصيد 8 مرات، يليه كريستيانو رونالدو بـ5 مرات.

Ronaldo had previously issued a scathing critique of the award in 2024 after Manchester City's Rodri won it, surpassing Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, stating at the time: "There is no credibility; Vinicius was supposed to win the award. I have felt his feelings many times."
The list of nominees for the Ballon d'Or in 2025 saw the absence of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the second time in 22 years.
Messi is the player with the most awards, having won it 8 times, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo with 5 wins.
