The election race for the non-profit Al-Ahli Club has taken a significant turn after sources from "Okaz" revealed the exclusion of the current president Khalid Al-Ghamdi's list from the race due to a technical error in submitting the candidacy application.
Thus, the competition for the presidency is now limited to the list of Ahmed Jannah and the list of the other candidate Ahmed Al-Husseini, which means that a new figure is assured to take the chair of the Al-Ahli Club presidency after Al-Ghamdi has remained president for the last two seasons.
It is worth mentioning that Khalid Al-Ghamdi holds the highest percentage of votes in the general assembly of Al-Ahli Club, despite his list being excluded from the elections, and his decision is expected to be decisive in choosing the new president of the club.
The General Committee for Sports Club Elections announced the opening of nominations for the presidency and membership of the boards of directors of non-profit institutions for the clubs (Ittihad, Ahli, Nasr, and Hilal). The committee confirmed that the new regulations governing the relationship between the non-profit institution and the club company do not require that any of the institution's candidates be the president of the club company's board of directors, unless they meet the conditions set by the general assembly of the club company, which consists of the Public Investment Fund and the non-profit institution.
It clarified that if the candidate does not meet those conditions, the general assembly will choose the president from among the seven members nominated for the board of directors of the club company.
These steps come as part of efforts to enhance the relationship between the entities owning the clubs, organize administrative work, and develop the governance system, which contributes to the stability and growth of the clubs and achieving their objectives.
