أعلنت اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية، تأييدها الكامل، لترشح رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية الشيخ جوعان بن حمد آل ثاني، لرئاسة المجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي للدورة الانتخابية الحالية، خلفاً لراجا راندير سينغ، الذي أعلن المجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي عدم استكماله لفترة الرئاسة التي كان من المزمع أن تنقضي عام 2028م.
وأكدت الأولمبية السعودية، في بيان صحفي صادر اليوم، تقديم دعمها الكامل للشيخ جوعان بن حمد، مضيفة أن ترؤسه المجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي، مؤشّر واضح لما وصلت إليه المنطقة من تقدم كبير في المجال الرياضي.
وشددت الأولمبية السعودية، على أهمية تعزيز العمل الخليجي المشترك، الرامية دوماً إلى دعم الكوادر الخليجية لمختلف المناصب الإقليمية والقارية والدولية في مختلف القطاعات ومنها القطاع الرياضي.
وقدم البيان، الأمنيات بالتوفيق والنجاح، باسم جميع منسوبي الأسرة الأولمبية بالمملكة، للشيخ جوعان بن حمد، لرئاسة المجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي، في الانتخابات التي ستعقد في يناير من العام (2026 م) خلال أعمال الجمعية العمومية للمجلس في العاصمة الأوزبكية طشقند.
وعبّرت اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية عن شكرها لراجا راندير سينغ على قيادته المجلس خلال الفترة السابقة، مؤكدةً متانة العلاقة التي تجمع اللجنة بالمجلس الأولمبي الآسيوي ولا سيما في ظل استضافة المملكة دورة الألعاب الآسيوية للصالات المغلقة والفنون القتالية (2026) في الرياض، ودورة الألعاب الآسيوية الشتوية في نيوم (2029)، ودورة الألعاب الآسيوية «الرياض 2034».

The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced its full support for the candidacy of the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, for the presidency of the Olympic Council of Asia for the current electoral cycle, succeeding Raja Randhir Singh, who the Olympic Council of Asia announced would not complete his term, which was supposed to end in 2028.
The Saudi Olympic Committee confirmed in a press release issued today its complete support for Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad, adding that his presidency of the Olympic Council of Asia is a clear indication of the significant progress the region has made in the sports field.
The Saudi Olympic Committee emphasized the importance of enhancing joint Gulf cooperation, which always aims to support Gulf talents for various regional, continental, and international positions across different sectors, including the sports sector.
The statement expressed best wishes for success and achievement, on behalf of all members of the Olympic family in the Kingdom, to Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad for the presidency of the Olympic Council of Asia in the elections that will be held in January 2026 during the General Assembly of the Council in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent.
