رغم انتهاء مشوار منتخب الكونغو الديمقراطية في كأس العالم 2026 بالخسارة أمام إنجلترا بنتيجة 2-1، إلا أنه خرج بإنجاز تاريخي، بعدما أصبح ثالث منتخب أفريقي فقط ينجح في هز شباك «الأسود الثلاثة» في تاريخ نهائيات كأس العالم.
وسجل المنتخب الكونغولي هدفاً مبكراً أربك حسابات الإنجليز، لينضم إلى قائمة نادرة لم تضم من قبل سوى الكاميرون وتونس.
وكان الكاميرون أول منتخب أفريقي يسجل في مرمى إنجلترا بالمونديال، عندما أحرز هدفين في ربع نهائي نسخة 1990 قبل أن يخسر 3-2 بعد التمديد، ثم جاء منتخب تونس في نسخة 2018 وسجل هدفاً في خسارته 2-1.
وبعد ثمانية أعوام من هدف تونس، أعاد منتخب الكونغو الديمقراطية كتابة هذا الإنجاز، مؤكداً حضوره التاريخي رغم توديعه البطولة، ليصبح ثالث منتخب أفريقي فقط ينجح في زيارة شباك إنجلترا في كأس العالم.
ويبرز هذا الرقم مدى الصلابة الدفاعية التي تميز بها المنتخب الإنجليزي عبر تاريخ مشاركاته في المونديال، إذ لم تتمكن سوى ثلاثة منتخبات أفريقية من هز شباكه طوال تاريخ البطولة، كان أحدثها منتخب جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية في نسخة 2026.
