افتتح الكروات التسجيل عبر تسديدة بعيدة المدى في الشوط الأول، قبل أن تدرك غانا التعادل من ركلة حرة، لتبقى المواجهة مفتوحة حتى الدقائق الأخيرة، حين نجح نيكولا فلاسيتش في تسجيل هدف الفوز بالدقيقة 83 مستغلاً كرة ثابتة نفذها لوكا مودريتش.
ورغم الخسارة، ضمنت غانا التأهل إلى الدور القادم ضمن أفضل أصحاب المركز الثالث بعدما أنهت المجموعة في المركز الثالث برصيد أربع نقاط، فيما ودعت بنما البطولة دون أي نقاط، في مجموعة حُسمت تفاصيلها حتى اللحظات الأخيرة.
The Croatian national team secured qualification to the Round of 32 in second place after defeating Ghana 2-1 in the final match of the group stage, finishing with six points behind the leaders, England.
Croatia opened the scoring with a long-range shot in the first half, before Ghana equalized with a free kick, keeping the match open until the final minutes, when Nikola Vlasic scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute, taking advantage of a set piece executed by Luka Modric.
Despite the loss, Ghana secured qualification to the next round as one of the best third-placed teams, finishing the group in third place with four points, while Panama exited the tournament without any points, in a group whose details were decided until the last moments.
