أبدى مدرب المنتخب القطري لكرة القدم الإسباني جولين لوبيتيغي، فخره بلاعبيه رغم الخسارة أمام منتخب البوسنة والهرسك بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدف، على استاد سياتل، ضمن الجولة الثالثة (الأخيرة) من منافسات المجموعة الثانية في نهائيات كأس العالم 2026 المقامة في الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك، ليودع المنتخب البطولة من الدور الأول.
وقال المدرب في المؤتمر الصحفي عقب المباراة، إن اللاعبين قدموا مستوى جيداً في المواجهة التي كانت تمثل الفرصة الأخيرة للتأهل إلى الدور الثاني، معرباً عن اعتزازه بالأداء الذي قدمه الجميع، وبرد الفعل الذي أظهره الفريق بعد التأخر بهدفين في الشوط الأول.
وأوضح: «لم نبدأ المباراة بالشكل الأمثل، استقبلنا هدفين في ظل الجودة الكبيرة للاعبي الأجنحة في المنتخب البوسني الذين يملكون خبرات واسعة اكتسبوها من اللعب في دوريات أوروبية كبيرة، ولم نحسن التعامل مع بعض الوضعيات، فارتكبنا أخطاء تسببت في التأخر بالنتيجة».
وأضاف: «أظهرنا رد فعل جيداً للغاية في ربع الساعة الأخير من الشوط الأول، واستحوذنا على الكرة وهددنا مرمى المنافس حتى نجحنا في تقليص الفارق بعد جملة تكتيكية منسقة، ثم واصلنا السيطرة في الشوط الثاني وكنا الطرف الأفضل وهيمنا على مجريات اللعب، وخلقنا العديد من الفرص التي كانت كفيلة بإعادة المباراة إلى نقطة البداية».
وعزا لوبيتيغي الخسارة إلى إهدار العديد من الفرص التي كانت كفيلة بإعادة «العنابي» إلى أجواء اللقاء، قبل أن يستقبل هدفاً ثالثاً من الفرصة الوحيدة التي صنعها المنتخب البوسني في الشوط الثاني، الأمر الذي صعب المهمة في ظل الحاجة إلى تسجيل هدفين للعودة في النتيجة.
واعتبر أن غياب عنصرين مهمين، هما عاصم مادبو وهمام الأمين، بسبب الإيقاف، أثر على أداء الفريق وخياراته الفنية، رغم الجهود الكبيرة التي بذلها اللاعبون البدلاء لتعويض هذه الغيابات، مشيراً إلى أن مثل هذه التفاصيل يكون لها تأثير كبير في البطولات الكبرى التي تحسمها الجزئيات الصغيرة.
وختم المدرب بالتأكيد على فخره واعتزازه بما قدمه اللاعبون طوال البطولة، مشيراً إلى أن نقص الخبرة التراكمية في بطولات بحجم كأس العالم حال دون تعاملهم بالشكل الأمثل مع بعض المواقف، لاسيما في ما يتعلق بتجنب الأخطاء واستثمار الفرص الحاسمة في التوقيت المناسب.
وكان المنتخب القطري قد تلقى خسارته الثانية في البطولة أمام منتخب البوسنة والهرسك بنتيجة (3-1)، بعدما خسر في الجولة الثانية أمام المنتخب الكندي بستة أهداف دون رد، مكتفياً بنقطة واحدة من التعادل أمام المنتخب السويسري في مستهل مشواره، وهي أول نقطة يحصدها في تاريخ مشاركاته بكأس العالم، في ظهوره الثاني بالبطولة، بعدما خرج من الدور الأول في نسخة 2022 التي استضافتها الدوحة إثر ثلاث هزائم متتالية.
The coach of the Qatari national football team, Spanish Julen Lopetegui, expressed his pride in his players despite the loss to the Bosnia and Herzegovina team by three goals to one at Seattle Stadium, in the third (final) round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, leading the team to exit the tournament in the first round.
In the press conference after the match, the coach stated that the players performed well in a match that represented their last chance to qualify for the second round, expressing his pride in the performance everyone delivered and the reaction the team showed after falling behind by two goals in the first half.
He explained: "We did not start the match in the best way; we conceded two goals due to the high quality of the wing players in the Bosnian team, who have extensive experience gained from playing in major European leagues. We did not handle some situations well, which led to mistakes that caused us to fall behind in the score."
He added: "We showed a very good reaction in the last fifteen minutes of the first half, we controlled the ball and threatened the opponent's goal until we managed to reduce the deficit after a coordinated tactical sequence. Then we continued to dominate in the second half, being the better side and controlling the course of the game, creating many opportunities that could have brought the match back to square one."
Lopetegui attributed the loss to wasting many opportunities that could have brought the "Maroon" back into the game, before conceding a third goal from the only chance created by the Bosnian team in the second half, which complicated the task given the need to score two goals to return to the match.
He considered that the absence of two important players, Asem Madbouh and Hamam Al-Amin, due to suspension, affected the team's performance and tactical options, despite the great efforts made by the substitute players to compensate for these absences, pointing out that such details have a significant impact in major tournaments that are decided by small details.
The coach concluded by affirming his pride and appreciation for what the players presented throughout the tournament, noting that the lack of accumulated experience in tournaments as significant as the World Cup prevented them from dealing optimally with some situations, especially regarding avoiding mistakes and capitalizing on crucial opportunities at the right time.
The Qatari national team had suffered its second loss in the tournament against the Bosnia and Herzegovina team with a score of (3-1), after losing in the second round to the Canadian team by six goals to none, settling for one point from a draw against the Swiss team at the start of their campaign, which is the first point they have earned in their World Cup history, in their second appearance in the tournament, after exiting in the first round in the 2022 edition hosted by Doha following three consecutive defeats.
