توفي مشجع أردني وأصيب ثمانية آخرون فجر اليوم (الثلاثاء) جراء تدافع في المدرج الروماني وسط عمّان، حيث حضر آلاف الأشخاص لمتابعة مباراة منتخب بلادهم الأردني في كأس العالم لكرة القدم أمام الجزائر، وفق ما أفاد مصدر أمني أردني.
وقال الناطق الإعلامي باسم مديرية الأمن العام في بيان إنه «تم إسعاف تسعة أشخاص إلى المستشفى إثر إصابتهم خلال تدافع للجمهور داخل الساحة الهاشمية»، المجاورة للمدرج الروماني حيث نُصبت شاشات عملاقة لعرض مباريات كأس العالم لكرة القدم.
وأضاف: إن أحد المصابين ما لبث أن فارق الحياة وجرى تحويله للطب الشرعي لتحديد سبب الوفاة، فيما تلقى باقي المصابين العلاج وحالاتهم حسنة ومتوسطة.
وقد تجمهر أكثر من 15 ألف أردني فجر الثلاثاء لمتابعة ثاني مباريات منتخبهم في كأس العالم 2026، من على المدرج الروماني الذي يعود تاريخه إلى القرن الثاني الميلادي ويتسع لنحو ستة آلاف شخص، حيث وُضعت شاشات عملاقة لنقل المباراة التي انتهت بخسارة الأردن أمام الجزائر بنتيجة 2-1.
وقلبت الجزائر تأخرها أمام الأردن في الشوط الثاني وهزمته 2-1 لتقصيه من دور المجموعات، في سانتا كلارا في سان فرانسيسكو، ضمن الجولة الثانية من مونديال 2026 في كرة القدم.
A Jordanian fan died and eight others were injured early today (Tuesday) due to a stampede at the Roman amphitheater in downtown Amman, where thousands of people gathered to watch their national team’s match against Algeria in the World Cup, according to a Jordanian security source.
The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate stated in a statement that "nine people were transported to the hospital after being injured during the crowd surge inside the Hashemite Square," adjacent to the Roman amphitheater where giant screens were set up to broadcast the World Cup matches.
He added that one of the injured soon passed away and was transferred to forensic medicine to determine the cause of death, while the other injured received treatment and their conditions are stable to moderate.
More than 15,000 Jordanians gathered early Tuesday to watch their national team’s second match in the 2026 World Cup from the Roman amphitheater, which dates back to the second century AD and accommodates about six thousand people, where giant screens were placed to broadcast the match that ended with Jordan losing to Algeria 2-1.
Algeria overturned its deficit against Jordan in the second half, defeating them 2-1 to eliminate them from the group stage, in Santa Clara in San Francisco, during the second round of the 2026 World Cup in football.
