«خليج الغرام».. أزمة جديدة تزيد أوجاع الزمالك

The Egyptian Zamalek Club received a new shock after the decision to freeze its land in Marsa Matrouh, a step that exacerbates the financial crisis the club is experiencing and reduces its financial resources.

The club stated in a statement: "Zamalek Club received a letter from the New Urban Communities Authority, the Development Agency for the Third Sector of the Northwestern Coast (Marsa Matrouh), indicating that as part of the planning to develop the Gulf of Al-Gharam area."

It added: "The decision was made to utilize the beach lands and water surface in the area to implement a national project, and accordingly, any new transactions or constructions, or those that previously had building permits on the lands and resorts located under the authority's jurisdiction in the area, are to be halted, and no compensation for beach usage rights will be accepted for the upcoming year 2026 and for an indefinite period."
The Zamalek Club's Board of Directors has tasked the legal affairs department with responding to the letter sent to the club by the New Urban Communities Authority.

Severe Financial Crisis

Zamalek is suffering from a severe financial distress that has recently worsened after the Egyptian Ministry of Housing's decision to withdraw the club's land in the Sixth of October City, which was designated for the establishment of a new branch, due to "lack of seriousness in execution."

Repercussions Hitting the Team

The management is facing significant difficulties in providing the necessary liquidity to pay the players' dues, which has negatively affected the stability of the team and its results during the current season.

Additionally, FIFA continues to freeze Zamalek's registration due to six cases ruled in favor of former coaches and players.
