تشهد العاصمة الرياض غداً (الثلاثاء) انطلاق منافسات بطولة العالم للدراجات الحضرية (UCI 2025)، التي تستضيفها المملكة للمرة الأولى، بتنظيم الاتحاد السعودي للدراجات، وإشراف وزارة الرياضة والاتحاد الدولي للدراجات (UCI)، وذلك في منطقة بوليفارد سيتي، وتستمر حتى السبت 8 نوفمبر الجاري، بمشاركة نخبة من أبرز نجوم الدراجات حول العالم، في حدث رياضي متميز يُعد الأضخم على مستوى رياضات المدن.
وتضم البطولة المقامة تحت مظلة الاتحاد الدولي للدراجات (UCI) 3 فئات رئيسية هي: (BMX Freestyle Park) و(BMX Freestyle Flatland) و(Trials)، ويتنافس أكثر من (230) دراجاً ودراجة يمثلون أكثر من (40) دولة من مختلف القارات على ألقاب البطولة في فئتي النخبة والشباب، للرجال والسيدات.
وتنطلق فعاليات اليوم الأول غداً بمسابقة الفرق المختلطة في فئة التريالز (Trials Mixed Team)، التي تفتتح المشهد التنافسي وتجمع مهارات الدراجين في تجاوز العوائق والتوازن والتحكم، قبل أن تبدأ لاحقاً التصفيات الخاصة بفئتي (BMX Freestyle Park) و(Flatland)، اللتين تشهدان مشاركة أبطال عالميين سبق لهم التتويج بالألقاب القارية والعالمية.
ويأتي على رأس قائمة أبرز المرشحين في فئة (BMX Park) النجم الأسترالي لوغان مارتن حامل اللقب العالمي والأولمبي، إلى جانب الياباني ريمو ناكامورا، والأمريكي جاستن داول، وتسعى الأمريكية هاناه روبرتس إلى تعزيز سجلها الأسطوري بالفوز بلقبها العالمي السابع في فئة السيدات، وسط منافسة قوية من الصينية تشين شياو، واليابانية ميهارو أوزاوا.
وفي فئة (Flatland)، تتجه الأنظار نحو اليابانية توداكا تشياكي، بطلة الجولة الأخيرة من كأس العالم، في حين تتنافس في فئة الرجال أسماء بارزة؛ أبرزها الياباني يو كاتاجيري، والكندي جان ويليام بريفوست، والإسباني فيكي غوميز، في مشهد يُنتظر أن يقدّم عروضاً فنية استثنائية تجمع التوازن والابتكار والإبداع.
وفي فئة (Trials)، سيكون الصراع محتدماً بين أبطال العالم في فئتي (20) بوصة و(26) بوصة، يتقدمهم الإسباني أليخاندرو مونتالفو، والإنجليزي جاك كارثي، والفرنسي روبن بيرشياتي. وتشارك أيضاً نخبة من السيدات، في مقدّمتهن الإسبانيتان فيرا بارون، وألبا رييرا.
وتأتي استضافة هذه البطولة امتداداً للنجاحات التي حققتها المملكة في احتضان كبرى الفعاليات الرياضية العالمية، وخطوة إستراتيجية نحو تعزيز حضورها على خارطة الرياضات العالمية ومنها الدراجات، بما يعكس ما وصلت إليه من تطور في البنية التحتية الرياضية والتنظيمية، ويسهم في تحقيق المستهدفات الرياضية وفق الرؤى الوطنية.
The capital city of Riyadh will witness tomorrow (Tuesday) the launch of the Urban Cycling World Championships (UCI 2025), hosted by the Kingdom for the first time, organized by the Saudi Cycling Federation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and the International Cycling Union (UCI). The event will take place in the Boulevard City area and will continue until Saturday, November 8, with the participation of a select group of the world's top cycling stars, in a distinguished sporting event considered the largest in urban sports.
The championship, held under the umbrella of the International Cycling Union (UCI), features three main categories: (BMX Freestyle Park), (BMX Freestyle Flatland), and (Trials). More than 230 cyclists representing over 40 countries from various continents will compete for the championship titles in the elite and youth categories for both men and women.
The activities of the first day will kick off tomorrow with the mixed team competition in the Trials category (Trials Mixed Team), which will open the competitive scene and showcase the riders' skills in overcoming obstacles, balance, and control. Later, the qualifiers for the (BMX Freestyle Park) and (Flatland) categories will begin, featuring world champions who have previously won continental and world titles.
At the top of the list of prominent contenders in the (BMX Park) category is Australian star Logan Martin, the reigning world and Olympic champion, alongside Japanese rider Remo Nakamura and American Justin Dowell. American Hannah Roberts aims to enhance her legendary record by winning her seventh world title in the women's category, amid strong competition from Chinese rider Chen Xiao and Japanese rider Miharu Ozawa.
In the (Flatland) category, all eyes are on Japanese rider Todaka Chiaki, the champion of the last round of the World Cup, while notable names compete in the men's category, including Japanese Yu Katagiri, Canadian Jean-William Prevost, and Spanish Viki Gomez, in a scene expected to deliver exceptional artistic performances combining balance, innovation, and creativity.
In the (Trials) category, the competition will be fierce among world champions in the 20-inch and 26-inch categories, led by Spaniard Alejandro Montalvo, Englishman Jack Carthy, and Frenchman Ruben Birchati. A select group of women will also participate, including Spaniards Vera Baron and Alba Riera.
The hosting of this championship is a continuation of the successes achieved by the Kingdom in hosting major global sporting events and a strategic step towards enhancing its presence on the global sports map, including cycling, reflecting the progress made in sports infrastructure and organization, and contributing to achieving sports objectives in line with national visions.
