نثر نجوم الاتحاد أجمل الفنون الكروية ورسموا أحلى اللوحات الفنية، وعاد «العميد» بقوة بعد «ريمونتادا» مثيرة على الشرطة العراقي، إذ قلب الطاولة من التأخر بهدف للفوز برباعية جميلة، في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على استاد المدينة الدولي بالعاصمة العراقية بغداد مساء اليوم (الإثنين)، ضمن لقاءات الجولة الثالثة من دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة.
أحرز أهداف الاتحاد موسى ديابي (د:17) وفابينيو (د:29) وحسام عوار (هدفين د:60، 76)، فيما جاء هدف الشرطة عن طريق بسام شاكر (د:5)، وشهد اللقاء حصول مدافع الاتحاد دانيلو بيريرا على بطاقة حمراء (د:50).
شهد اللقاء بداية قوية للشرطة العراقي الذي تمكن من إحراز هدف مبكر، إذ تحصل على ركلة زاوية لتصل الكرة لمهدي صحابي ليحولها برأسه لزميله بسام شاكر الذي أسكن الكرة برأسه في الشباك هدفاً للشرطة (د:5)، وتمكن الاتحاد من العودة سريعاً بعد الضغط العالي الذي استخدمه دومبيا على عبدالمجيد بوبكر ليخطف منه الكرة ومن ثم لعبها عرضية عالية، حوّلها موسى ديابي برأسه داخل الشباك هدف تعادل للاتحاد (د:12)، وضاعف القائد فابينيو النتيجة بعد أن تحصل الاتحاد على ركلة حرة مباشرة على حدود منطقة الجزاء نفذها فابينيو ببراعة لتسكن الشباك هدفاً ثانياً للاتحاد (د:29)، وكاد الشرطة يعود للقاء بعد تسديدة من دومينيك مندي ترتطم في العارضة وتنزل الكرة على خط المرمى، وأخذ الحكم الإماراتي محمد العلي وقتاً طويلاً ليؤكد عدم ولوج الكرة لداخل المرمى.
وبعد انطلاقة الشوط الثاني بخمس دقائق فقط تحصل مدافع الاتحاد دانيلو بيريرا على البطاقة الحمراء بعد حصوله على البطاقة الصفراء الثانية (د:50)، وفي الوقت الذي انتظر الجميع أن يعادل الشرطة النتيجة، انطلق موسى ديابي بكرة مرتدة ولعبها عرضية أرضية ليودعها حسام عوار في الشباك هدفاً ثالثاً للاتحاد (د:60)، وفي سيناريو مكرر للهدف الثالث انطلق ديابي بالكرة من منتصف الملعب وتجاوز الحارس أحمد باسل وسيطر على الكرة ومررها أرضية لحسام عوار الذي سددها في المرمى رغم وجود مدافعين على خط المرمى هدفاً رابعاً للاتحاد (د:76)، وكاد أحمد الغامدي يحرز هدفاً جميلاً بعد أن تجاوز أكثر من لاعب ومن ثم سدد كرة أرضية قوية تجاوزت الحارس باسل لكن القائم تصدى لها، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز الاتحاد بأربعة أهداف لهدف.
وبهذه النتيجة يحقق الاتحاد فوزه الأول في المسابقة ويحصد أول ثلاث نقاط، وسيلاقي ضيفه الشارقة الإماراتي في الجولة القادمة، فيما تلقى الشرطة العراقي الخسارة الثانية وتجمد رصيده عند نقطة واحدة وسيواجه مضيفه تراكتور الإيراني في الجولة القادمة.

Al-Ittihad's goals were scored by Moussa Diaby (17'), Fabinho (29'), and Houssem Aouar (two goals at 60' and 76'), while the Police's goal came from Bassam Shakir (5'). The match also saw Al-Ittihad defender Danilo Pereira receive a red card (50').
The match witnessed a strong start from the Iraqi Police, who managed to score an early goal. They earned a corner kick, and the ball reached Mahdi Sahabi, who headed it to his teammate Bassam Shakir, who then headed the ball into the net for the Police's goal (5'). Al-Ittihad quickly responded after a high press from Doumbia on Abdulmajid Bouba, allowing him to steal the ball and then play a high cross, which Moussa Diaby headed into the net for Al-Ittihad's equalizer (12'). Captain Fabinho doubled the score after Al-Ittihad was awarded a direct free kick at the edge of the penalty area, which Fabinho executed brilliantly to find the net for Al-Ittihad's second goal (29'). Ahmed Al-Ghamdi nearly scored a beautiful goal after surpassing several players and then shooting a powerful ground ball that went past goalkeeper Basel, but the post denied him. The match ended with Al-Ittihad winning four goals to one.
With this result, Al-Ittihad achieves its first victory in the competition and collects its first three points. They will face their guest, Sharjah of the UAE, in the next round, while the Iraqi Police suffered their second loss, remaining at one point, and will face their host, Tractor of Iran, in the next round.
