The Italian Enzo Maresca, coach of the English team Chelsea, admitted his mistake during the press conference he held today (Friday) before his team's match against Nottingham Forest, scheduled to take place tomorrow (Saturday) as part of the eighth round of the Premier League.
Coach Maresca's error led to the re-injury of player Cole Palmer, the team's midfield star, causing him to be sidelined again for six weeks. Coach Enzo Maresca acknowledged that he was "wrong" in assessing the player's return, stating: "Unfortunately, he will be out for an additional six weeks." Maresca explained that the top priority now is to protect the player and ensure his return in full physical fitness.
Maresca added that the medical staff "are not magicians," expressing hope that the six-week period would be sufficient for his recovery. He emphasized the need to monitor his condition "step by step," noting that Palmer appears to be "relaxed" and is currently undergoing the necessary treatment.
Enzo Maresca admitted the difficulty of the task ahead, saying: "It's hard to replace Cole; he is a very important player and perhaps one of the best players in the Premier League." He concluded his remarks by affirming that the team will look for "different solutions and skills," as they do not have another player with the characteristics of Cole Palmer, whom he described as a "unique player."
