للمرة الثانية على التوالي تأهل منتخب قطر لنهائيات كأس العالم 2026 بعد فوزه على ضيفه منتخب الإمارات بهدفين لهدف في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على ملعب جاسم بن حمد في ختام لقاءات المجموعة الأولى للملحق الآسيوي المؤهل لكأس العالم 2026.
وأحرز هدفي قطر بوعلام خوخي (د:49)، بيدرو ميغيل (د:74)، فيما أحرز هدف الإمارات سلطان عادل (د:90+8)، وتحصل لاعب قطر طارق سلمان على بطاقة حمراء (د:89)، ليتأهل منتخب قطر للمونديال كسادس المنتخبات العربية بعد الأردن والمغرب وتونس ومصر والجزائر وقطر.
شهد اللقاء بداية قوية من المنتخبين منذ بداية الشوط الأول من اللقاء مع أفضلية نسبية لصالح المنتخب القطري الذي كان صاحب المبادرة الهجومية الأولى حينما تسلم سلطان البريك كرة وسددها من داخل منطقة الجزاء تصدى لها الحارس خالد عيسى، ثم تبعه بعد ذلك مباشرة أيوب محمد بتسديدة من خارج منطقة الجزاء مرت بجوار القائم، في حين جاء الرد الإماراتي الأول حينما سدد نيكولاس خيمينيز كرة من الجهة اليسرى مرت بجوار القائم.
ومن كرة ثابتة لعبها أكرم عفيف حولها بوعلام خوخي برأسه داخل الشباك هدفا أول لقطر (د:49)، وعاد أكرم عفيف للتألق ولعب كرة عرضية عالية طار لها بيدرو ميغيل من خلف المدافعين وحولها برأسه لداخل الشباك هدفاً ثانياً لقطر (د:74)، وفي الدقائق الأخيرة تحصل لاعب قطر طارق سلمان على بطاقة حمراء، ليستغل منتخب الإمارات النقص العددي ويقلص النتيجة عن طريق سلطان عادل الذي أحرز الهدف الأول للإمارات (د:90+8) لينتهي اللقاء بفوز قطر بهدفين لهدف.
وبهذه النتيجة يتصدر منتخب قطر جدول ترتيب المجموعة الأولى برصيد 4 نقاط من فوز وتعادل ويتأهل لنهائيات كأس العالم 2026، فيما حل منتخب الإمارات ثانياً بثلاث نقاط من فوز وخسارة وينتظر ثاني المجموعة الثانية لخوض لقاءي الملحق الآسيوي المؤهل للمحفل العالمي، فيما احتل منتخب عُمان المركز الثالث (الأخير) برصيد نقطة واحدة فقط.

For the second consecutive time, the Qatar national team has qualified for the 2026 World Cup after defeating their guest, the UAE national team, by two goals to one in the match held at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, concluding the group stage of the Asian playoff for the 2026 World Cup.
The goals for Qatar were scored by Boualem Khoukhi (49'), Pedro Miguel (74'), while the UAE's goal was scored by Sultan Adel (90+8'). Qatar's player Tareq Salman received a red card (89'), allowing the Qatar national team to qualify for the World Cup as the sixth Arab team after Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, and Qatar.
The match witnessed a strong start from both teams from the beginning of the first half, with a relative advantage for the Qatari team, which had the first attacking initiative when Sultan Al-Breik received the ball and shot from inside the penalty area, but it was saved by goalkeeper Khalid Issa. This was immediately followed by Ayoub Mohammed's shot from outside the penalty area, which went past the post, while the first response from the UAE came when Nicolas Jimenez shot from the left side, which also went past the post.
