تعثر ممثل الوطن (الاتحاد) بالخسارة من مضيّفه بهدفين لهدف، في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على استاد آل نهيان ضمن لقاءات الجولة الأولى من دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة.
شهد اللقاء تقدم الاتحاد أولاً بالنتيجة عن طريق ستيفن بيرغوين (د:21)، قبل أن يرد الوحدة بهدفين خلال الشوط الثاني عن طريق كايو كانيدو (د:62) ولوكاس بيمنتا (د:90+8)، وأكمل الاتحاد المباراة بعشرة لاعبين عقب طرد المدافع مهند الشنقيطي في الدقيقة 37 من عمر اللقاء.
شهد اللقاء بداية قوية من الفريقين ومن أول محاولة اتحادية على مرمى منافسه نجح في هزّ الشباك بطريقة مميزة، إثر تسديدة صاروخية من خارج الصندوق عن طريق الهولندي ستيفن بيرغوين استقرت على يمين الحارس زايد الحمادي في المرمى (د:21).
وتغيرت مجريات اللقاء بعد أن تلقى لاعب الاتحاد مهند الشنقيطي البطاقة الحمراء إثر تدخله الخشن على قدم فاكوندو كروسبزكي في وسط الملعب، بعد الرجوع إلى تقنية حكم الفيديو المساعد (د:37).
وفي الشوط الثاني ضغط الوحدة الإماراتي وتمكن من تسجيل هدف التعادل بعد أن مرر تاديتش كرة أرضية إلى خريبين على الجانب الأيمن للمنطقة، قبل أن يحوّلها الأخير إلى كايو كانيدو الذي سددها بدوره زاحفة بقدمه اليمنى نحو أسفل الزاوية اليسرى داخل شباك الحارس رايكوفيتش (د:62).
وكاد الاتحاد يتقدم مجدداً بعد أن سدد البديل عبدالرحمن العبود كرة قوية من خارج منطقة الجزاء في أعلى الزاوية اليمنى، لكن الحارس الحمادي تمكن من الإمساك بالكرة (د:87)، وفي اللحظات الأخيرة من زمن الوقت المحتسب بدل الضائع للقاء نجح الفريق الإماراتي في خطف هدف الفوز الثمين، إثر كرة عرضية عكسها تاديتش من الجهة اليمنى داخل منطقة الجزاء، حوّلها المدافع علاء الدين زوهر برأسه نحو المرمى، تصدى لها الحارس ببراعة، قبل أن يتابع لوكاس بيمينتا الكرة مباشرة داخل الشباك (د:90+8)، لتنتهي مجريات هذه المباراة بفوزٍ مُثير للوحدة بهدفين مقابل هدف للاتحاد.

The national representative (Al-Ittihad) stumbled with a loss to its host by two goals to one, in the match that took place at Al Nahyan Stadium as part of the first round of the AFC Champions League.
In the match, Al-Ittihad initially took the lead through Steven Bergwijn (21'), before Al-Wahda responded with two goals in the second half from Caio Canedo (62') and Lucas Pimenta (90+8'). Al-Ittihad completed the match with ten players after defender Mohannad Al-Shanqeeti was sent off in the 37th minute of the match.
The match witnessed a strong start from both teams, and from the first attempt by Al-Ittihad on the opponent's goal, they succeeded in shaking the net in a remarkable way, following a powerful shot from outside the box by the Dutchman Steven Bergwijn that settled to the right of goalkeeper Zayed Al-Hamadi (21').
The course of the match changed after Al-Ittihad player Mohannad Al-Shanqeeti received a red card for his rough tackle on Facundo Kruspzski's foot in the midfield, after referring to the Video Assistant Referee (37').
In the second half, Al-Wahda pressed and managed to score the equalizer after Tadic passed a ground ball to Kharbin on the right side of the area, before the latter converted it to Caio Canedo, who shot it low with his right foot towards the bottom left corner inside goalkeeper Rajkovic's net (62').
Al-Ittihad nearly took the lead again after substitute Abdulrahman Al-Aboud hit a powerful shot from outside the penalty area into the top right corner, but goalkeeper Al-Hamadi managed to catch the ball (87'). In the final moments of the added time of the match, the Emirati team succeeded in snatching the precious winning goal, following a cross from Tadic from the right side into the penalty area, which defender Alaa Al-Din Zouher headed towards the goal. The goalkeeper brilliantly saved it, before Lucas Pimenta followed the ball directly into the net (90+8'), ending the match with an exciting victory for Al-Wahda by two goals to one against Al-Ittihad.
