هذا وكثف المدرب كارينيو منطقة الدفاع الوسط بعناصر تميل إلى الشق الدفاعي بمشاركة جواد الياميق من بداية المباراة وعبدالله الحافظ، ومشاركة 3 محاور هم: وليد باخشوين، وعلاء حجي، وباكونا، وسعيد بقير كلاعب حر يساند منطقة الوسط في حالة الدفاع والهجوم، كذلك في حالة الهجمة في خط المقدمة كجناح أيمن عبدالعزيز نور الذي يعتمد على المراوغة والسرعة وقادر على إرباك دفاع الخصم، وفي دائرة الصندوق يتواجد ايقالو.
وحذر المدرب كارينيو جميع اللاعبين من الأخطاء الدفاعية التي منحت القادسية في الجولة الماضية نقاط المباراة، وعدم منح الخصم فرصة لتنظيم هجماته، ويجب على كل لاعب أن يؤدي واجبه داخل الملعب على الوجه المطلوب.
