ودعت منتخبات الدول الثلاث المستضيفة لبطولة كأس العالم 2026 (الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية - كندا - المكسيك) المسابقة من دور الـ16، لتستمر عقدة «صاحب الأرض» في المونديال.
ويعود آخر تتويج لمنتخب استضاف بطولة كأس العالم إلى عام 1998، عندما فاز المنتخب الفرنسي على البرازيل 3-0 في المباراة النهائية، وحصد لقبه المونديالي الأول آنذاك، لتتواصل بعدها العقدة، إذ تعد هذه النسخة السابعة على التوالي التي يفشل فيها المنتخب صاحب الأرض في حصد البطولة.
المغرب يُنهي مشوار كندا
انتهى مشوار المنتخب الكندي في كأس العالم بعد الخسارة أمام نظيره المغربي بثلاثية نظيفة، السبت الماضي، وسجل أهداف «أسود الأطلس» كل من عزالدين أوناحي (هدفين) وسفيان رحيمي.
المكسيك تُغادر برأس مرفوعة
رغم مرارة الخروج من كأس العالم، إلا أن منتخب المكسيك قدم أداءً مميزاً أمام إنجلترا في واحدة من أمتع مباريات البطولة حتى الآن، انتهت بفوز المنتخب الإنجليزي 3-2، أمس (الإثنين).
وجاءت ثلاثية إنجلترا عن طريق جود بيلينغهام (هدفين) وهاري كين، بينما أحرز جوليان كينيونيس وراؤول خيمينيز هدفي المكسيك.
أمريكا تودع «رغم تدخل ترمب»
تكبد منتخب الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية هزيمة قاسية أمام نظيره البلجيكي بأربعة أهداف مقابل هدف، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، في مباراة سبقها جدل واسع بسبب إلغاء إيقاف نجم منتخب أمريكا فولارين بالوغون، رغم حصوله على بطاقة حمراء في دور الـ32 أمام البوسنة والهرسك.
وأكد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أنه تواصل مع رئيس الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «فيفا» جياني إنفانتينو، مطالباً بإعادة النظر في قرار طرد مهاجم المنتخب الأمريكي فولارين بالوغون، معتبراً أن الواقعة لا تستوجب إشهار البطاقة الحمراء.
لكن مشاركة بالوغون لم تُنقذ منتخب أمريكا من الطوفان البلجيكي، إذ جاءت أهداف «الشياطين الحمر» عن طريق تشارلز دي كيتيلاري (هدفين)، وهانز فاناكن، وروميلو لوكاكو، بينما سجل مالك تيلمان هدف أمريكا الوحيد.

Despite the bitterness of exiting the World Cup, the Mexican team delivered an impressive performance against England in one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament so far, which ended with an English victory of 3-2 yesterday (Monday).
The three goals for England came from Jude Bellingham (two goals) and Harry Kane, while Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez scored Mexico's two goals.
America Bids Farewell "Despite Trump's Intervention"
The United States team suffered a heavy defeat against Belgium, losing four goals to one today (Tuesday), in a match that was preceded by widespread controversy due to the cancellation of the suspension of American team star Folarin Balogun, despite receiving a red card in the Round of 32 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino, urging him to reconsider the decision to expel American striker Folarin Balogun, arguing that the incident did not warrant a red card.
However, Balogun's participation did not save the U.S. team from the Belgian onslaught, as the "Red Devils" scored their goals through Charles De Ketelaere (two goals), Hans Vanaken, and Romelu Lukaku, while Malik Tillman scored the only goal for America.
