تلقى نجم منتخب هولندا كودي جاكبو خبراً مُفجعاً بوفاة طفله المُنتظر، قبل المواجهة المهمة ضد المغرب المقررة الثلاثاء القادم، ضمن منافسات دور الـ32 من بطولة كأس العالم 2026 المُقامة في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا والمكسيك.
رسالة مؤثرة من شريكة جاكبو
وكتبت شريكته نوا فان دير بيغ عبر حساباتها على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي: «بقلوب مفجوعة، نشارككم النبأ المفجع بوفاة طفلنا أثناء الحمل، شكراً لكم على حبكم ودعمكم».
وأضافت: «إيليا رافائيل جاكبو، سيبقى محبوباً إلى الأبد، سيبقى ابننا إلى الأبد».
وكان إيليا هو الحمل الثاني لفان دير بيج وجاكبو، بعد أن استقبلا طفلهما الأول، صموئيل سيث جاكبو، في 2024، وقد حضر كل من فان دير بيغ وإيليا إلى الولايات المتحدة لدعم جاكبو خلال مباراته الافتتاحية في كأس العالم 2026 ضد اليابان.

من جانبه، قال الاتحاد الهولندي في بيان: «نحن مع كودي وعائلته، هذا وضع شخصي محزن للغاية، وكنا على علم بهذا الأمر وندعمه بكل ما في وسعنا».
وتابع البيان: «قرر جاكبو، بعد محادثات مع شريكته، البقاء مع المنتخب الهولندي، ونحن نحترم خصوصيتهم ولن ندلي بأي تعليقات أخرى».
وسجل جاكبو، البالغ من العمر 27 عاماً، هدفين في فوز هولندا على السويد، ليساهم في تصدر «الطواحين» المجموعة السادسة برصيد 7 نقاط.
Dutch national team star Cody Gakpo received devastating news about the death of his expected child, just before the important match against Morocco scheduled for next Tuesday, as part of the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
A touching message from Gakpo's partner
His partner, Noa van der Beek, wrote on her social media accounts: "With broken hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of our child's death during pregnancy. Thank you for your love and support."
She added: "Elia Rafael Gakpo will remain beloved forever; our son will remain with us forever."
Elia was the second pregnancy for van der Beek and Gakpo, after they welcomed their first child, Samuel Seth Gakpo, in 2024. Both van der Beek and Elia were present in the United States to support Gakpo during his opening match in the 2026 World Cup against Japan.
Gakpo's stance on the Morocco match
For its part, the Dutch federation stated in a statement: "We are with Cody and his family; this is an extremely sad personal situation, and we were aware of this matter and support him in every way we can."
The statement continued: "Gakpo decided, after discussions with his partner, to stay with the Dutch national team, and we respect their privacy and will not make any further comments."
Gakpo, 27 years old, scored two goals in the Netherlands' victory over Sweden, contributing to the "Oranje" topping Group F with 7 points.
