ويقع المنتخب الإنجليزي في المجموعة الثانية عشرة في المونديال، رفقة كرواتيا وغانا وبنما، ويبحث منتخب «الأسود الثلاثة» عن التتويج الثاني بكأس العالم، إذ سبق له الفوز باللقب مرة واحدة عام 1966.

وبحسب شبكة «فوت ميركاتو» الفرنسية، ضرب زلزال ولاية فلوريدا قبل المواجهة الودية أمام كوستاريكا الأسبوع الماضي، ولحسن الحظ لم تُسجَّل أضرار جسيمة، مع العلم أنه يُعد الأقوى الذي يضرب المنطقة منذ عام 1880.
سرقة المُعدات والأحذية
كما سُرقت سيارة كانت تنقل معدات إلى مركز التدريب، وشملت المسروقات كرات وأحذية رياضية، وهي حادثة كان إيفان توني وزملاؤه يفضلون تجنبها.
إعصار يُعرقل الاستعدادات
وما زاد الطين بلة أن تحذيراً من إعصار عرقل استعدادات إنجلترا يوم السبت، وفقاً لصحيفة «ذا أثليتيك»، حيث ضربت عاصفة عنيفة معسكر المنتخب الإنجليزي بعد ساعات فقط من أول حصة تدريبية لهم في ظل حرارة خانقة.
كما هو الحال مع آلاف السكان في المنطقة، تلقى لاعبو فريق المدرب توماس توخيل رسالة طوارئ على هواتفهم تحثهم على الاحتماء بسبب تحذير من إعصار.
وحذّرت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية من عاصفة رعدية شديدة مصحوبة برياح تصل سرعتها إلى 130 كم/ساعة، مؤكدة أن الحطام المتطاير قد يكون قاتلاً.
وبقي اللاعبون في فندقهم، رغم استعدادهم لمواجهة كرواتيا الأربعاء في أولى مبارياتهم بكأس العالم، في ظروف غير مثالية للتحضير لمثل هذه المواجهة المُهمة.

A hurricane disrupts preparations
To make matters worse, a hurricane warning disrupted England's preparations on Saturday, according to "The Athletic," as a severe storm hit the English team's camp just hours after their first training session in sweltering heat.
Like thousands of residents in the area, the players of coach Thomas Tuchel's team received an emergency message on their phones urging them to take shelter due to the hurricane warning.
The meteorological agency warned of a severe thunderstorm accompanied by winds reaching speeds of 130 km/h, confirming that flying debris could be deadly.
The players remained in their hotel, despite preparing to face Croatia on Wednesday in their first World Cup match, in less-than-ideal conditions for preparing for such an important encounter.
