نجا منتخب نيجيريا من حادثة جوية خطيرة بعدما اضطرت الطائرة التي تقل بعثته للهبوط الاضطراري في العاصمة الأنغولية لواندا، عقب تعرضها لتشقّق في الزجاج الأمامي بعد 25 دقيقة من إقلاعها من جنوب أفريقيا.
وكان المنتخب النيجيري قد غادر جنوب أفريقيا بعد فوزه على منتخب ليسوتو (2-1) ضمن الجولة التاسعة من التصفيات الأفريقية المؤهلة إلى كأس العالم 2026، متجهاً إلى بلاده استعداداً لمواجهة بنين الثلاثاء القادم.
وأكد الاتحاد النيجيري لكرة القدم أن الطيار تعامل مع الموقف بسرعة وحكمة، حيث أعاد الطائرة إلى المطار بسلام، دون وقوع أي إصابات بين أفراد البعثة. وأوضح البيان أن التنسيق جارٍ لتأمين طائرة بديلة تقل الفريق إلى نيجيريا قبل المباراة الحاسمة.
ويحتل منتخب نيجيريا المركز الثالث في المجموعة الثالثة برصيد 14 نقطة خلف جنوب أفريقيا (15 نقطة) وبنين المتصدر بـ17 نقطة.
The Nigerian national team survived a serious aviation incident after the plane carrying its delegation was forced to make an emergency landing in the Angolan capital, Luanda, following a crack in the windshield 25 minutes after taking off from South Africa.
The Nigerian team had left South Africa after defeating the Lesotho team (2-1) in the ninth round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, heading back to their country in preparation for their match against Benin next Tuesday.
The Nigerian Football Federation confirmed that the pilot handled the situation swiftly and wisely, safely returning the plane to the airport without any injuries among the delegation members. The statement clarified that arrangements are underway to secure an alternative plane to take the team to Nigeria before the crucial match.
Nigeria's national team is currently in third place in Group C with 14 points, behind South Africa (15 points) and Benin, who is leading with 17 points.
