هدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بنقل مباريات كأس العالم 2026 من المدن التي يعتقد أنها «غير آمنة».
ومن المقرر أن تستضيف إحدى عشرة مدينة أمريكية مباريات البطولة التي يشارك فيها 48 منتخباً والتي ستقام في الصيف القادم، بتنظيم مشترك مع كندا والمكسيك.
سوف ننقل المنافسات
وقال ترمب للصحفيين في المكتب البيضاوي: «إذا اعتقدت أن أي مدينة ليست آمنة لاستضافة مباريات كأس العالم، فسوف ننقل المنافسات إلى خارج تلك المدينة».
وأضاف الرئيس الأمريكي: «لكنني آمل ألا يحدث ذلك».
يذكر أن المدن المضيفة الـ11 في الولايات المتحدة هي: أتلانتا، بوسطن، دالاس، هيوستن، كانساس سيتي، لوس أنجلوس، ميامي، نيويورك/نيوغيرسي، فيلادلفيا، سان فرانسيسكو، وسياتل.
ولم يتضح بعد ما إذا كان ترمب يملك السلطة لتغيير أماكن إقامة بطولة كرة القدم الدولية التي يديرها الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا)، المسؤول عن تنظيم واختيار المدن المضيفة، أم لا؟
طوال فترة ولايته الثانية، زعم الرئيس الأمريكي أن المدن التي يديرها مسؤولون ديمقراطيون تعاني من معدلات جريمة مرتفعة وهي غير آمنة، بحسب ما ذكرته شبكة «سكاي سبورتس».

Eleven American cities are set to host matches in the tournament, which will feature 48 teams and take place next summer, organized jointly with Canada and Mexico.
We will move the competitions
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office: "If I think any city is not safe to host World Cup matches, we will move the competitions out of that city."
The U.S. president added: "But I hope that doesn't happen."
It is worth noting that the 11 host cities in the United States are: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle.
It is still unclear whether Trump has the authority to change the locations of the international football tournament managed by FIFA, which is responsible for organizing and selecting the host cities.
Throughout his second term, the U.S. president has claimed that cities run by Democratic officials suffer from high crime rates and are unsafe, according to Sky Sports.
