اضطر أنطونيو كونتي، مدرب نابولي، إلى استبدال النجم البلجيكي كيفين دي بروين بعد مرور 25 دقيقة فقط من مباراة فريقه أمام مانشستر سيتي، (الخميس)، ضمن الجولة الافتتاحية بمسابقة دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وكان دي بروين قد انضم إلى نابولي خلال فترة الانتقالات الصيفية الماضية قادماً من مانشستر سيتي في صفقة انتقال حر، ليعود إلى بيته القديم (ملعب الاتحاد) بعد نحو ثلاثة أشهر فقط من رحيله، ولكن كمنافس هذه المرة.
وشهدت الدقيقة 21 من اللقاء طرد لاعب نابولي، جيوفاني دي لورينزو، بعد تدخله على النرويجي إيرلينغ هالاند أمام منطقة الجزاء، ما أجبر كونتي على إجراء تبديل تكتيكي اضطر فيه إلى التضحية بـ«دي بروين» وإقحام ماتياس أوليفيرا لتعويض النقص العددي.
ورغم الموقف المُحرج بخروجه المبكر من المباراة، تقبّل دي بروين قرار مدربه دون اعتراض، ووقفت جماهير مانشستر سيتي لتحية أسطورة النادي بحرارة، تقديراً لما قدمه للفريق خلال سنواته الطويلة، وهو ما خفف من وطأة خيبة أمله في عدم إكمال المباراة.
Antonio Conte, the coach of Napoli, was forced to substitute Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne just 25 minutes into his team's match against Manchester City on Thursday, in the opening round of the UEFA Champions League.
De Bruyne had joined Napoli during the last summer transfer window from Manchester City on a free transfer, returning to his old home (the Etihad Stadium) after just three months of leaving, but as a competitor this time.
In the 21st minute of the match, Napoli player Giovanni Di Lorenzo was sent off after a tackle on Norwegian Erling Haaland in front of the penalty area, which forced Conte to make a tactical substitution, sacrificing "De Bruyne" and bringing in Matias Oliveira to compensate for the numerical disadvantage.
Despite the embarrassing situation of his early exit from the match, De Bruyne accepted his coach's decision without objection, and Manchester City fans stood to warmly greet the club legend, appreciating what he had given to the team over his long years, which eased the sting of his disappointment at not completing the match.
