في لفتة إنسانية، قررت إدارة نادي ليفربول الإنجليزي، استمرار صرف راتب البرتغالي ديوغو جوتا، رغم وفاته في حادث سير مأساوي.
ووفقا لصحيفة «ريكورد» البرتغالية، فإن رد فعل ليفربول على وفاة نجمه لم يقتصر على الحداد فقط، بل شمل أيضا إرسال عدد من أعضاء الفريق والجهازين الفني والإداري إلى بلدة جوندومار البرتغالية لحضور مراسم الجنازة، كما قرر النادي دفع مستحقات العامين المتبقيين من عقد جوتا إلى عائلته.
ويبلغ راتب جوتا مع ليفربول نحو 7.2 مليون جنيه إسترليني سنويا، وفقا لموقع «Capology» المتخصص في كشف رواتب لاعبي كرة القدم.
وأقيمت مراسم جنازة جوتا وشقيقه أندريه، اليوم (السبت)، وشارك فيها مدرب ليفربول، آرني سلوت، وقائد الفريق فيرجيل فان دايك، إضافة إلى العديد من زملائه مثل آندي روبرتسون، كونور برادلي، ريان جرافينبيرش، كودي جاكبو، كورتيس جونز، داروين نونيز، وجو جوميز، بينما غاب عن المراسم النجم المصري محمد صلاح الذي لا يزال يعاني من صدمة شديدة بسبب الحادث.
وكان جوتا، البالغ من العمر 28 عاما، قد توفي مع شقيقه أندريه في حادث سير مأساوي وقع يوم الخميس الماضي في مقاطعة زامورا، شمال غرب إسبانيا.
وأظهرت الصور المتداولة، تحول السيارة الفارهة لجوتا إلى رماد بعد احتراقها بالكامل، وفشل محاولات الإنقاذ.
In a humanitarian gesture, the management of Liverpool FC has decided to continue paying the salary of Portuguese player Diogo Jota, despite his tragic death in a car accident.
According to the Portuguese newspaper "Record," Liverpool's reaction to the death of their star was not limited to mourning; it also included sending several team members and staff from both the coaching and administrative sides to the town of Gondomar in Portugal to attend the funeral ceremonies. The club also decided to pay the remaining two years of Jota's contract to his family.
Jota's salary with Liverpool is approximately £7.2 million annually, according to the website “Capology,” which specializes in revealing football players' salaries.
The funeral ceremonies for Jota and his brother André were held today (Saturday), attended by Liverpool's coach, Arne Slot, team captain Virgil van Dijk, as well as many of his teammates such as Andy Robertson, Conor Bradley, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones, Darwin Núñez, and Joe Gomez, while the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah was absent from the ceremonies as he is still suffering from severe shock due to the accident.
Jota, who was 28 years old, died along with his brother André in a tragic car accident that occurred last Thursday in the province of Zamora, northwest Spain.
Photos circulating showed Jota's luxury car turned to ashes after being completely burned, with rescue attempts failing.
