وبحسب صحيفة «آس» الإسبانية، فإن هناك احتمالية لهبوب عواصف رعدية خلال مباراة بنفيكا وتشيلسي، ما يعني إمكانية تأجيل المباراة أو إرجائها، كما حدث في مباريات أخرى خلال البطولة.
وحجز بنفيكا مقعده في ثمن نهائي مونديال الأندية بعد تصدره المجموعة الثالثة برصيد 7 نقاط من تعادل وانتصارين.
في المقابل، احتل تشيلسي الإنجليزي وصافة المجموعة الرابعة بـ6 نقاط من فوزين وهزيمة.
وتُقام بطولة كأس العالم للأندية للمرة الأولى بنظام موسع يشمل 32 نادياً، حيث تأهل صاحبا المركزين الأول والثاني من كل مجموعة إلى الدور ثمن النهائي، الذي يُلعب بنظام خروج المغلوب من مباراة واحدة حتى النهائي.
