The Egyptian national team defeated its guest Guinea-Bissau with a score of one goal to none in the match that took place yesterday (Sunday) at the Cairo International Stadium, as part of the tenth (final) round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Mohamed Hamdy scored the only goal of the match with a precise header in the tenth minute, confirming the superiority of the "Pharaohs" despite the absence of star Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool player, who was given a rest after the team secured official qualification before the last round. The stands of the Cairo Stadium witnessed a special atmosphere, as the Egyptian fans celebrated the qualification for the World Cup before the match began and after the final whistle.

Egyptian Leadership with Merit

The Egyptian team raised its tally to 26 points, leading Group A by 5 points over its closest competitor (the Burkina Faso team), while Sierra Leone came in third with 15 points, Guinea-Bissau fourth with 10 points, and Ethiopia fifth with 9 points, while Djibouti finished at the bottom of the standings with just one point.

According to the African qualifying system, the leader of each group qualifies directly for the 2026 World Cup finals, while the best four teams in second place will enter an African playoff, from which one team will qualify for the global event.
