Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey condemned the ongoing Houthi attacks on the Kingdom, including the targeting of King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, describing them as a serious escalation that threatens regional security.
The four-nation group affirmed in a joint statement that the attacks carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia on Saudi Arabia, which have resulted in casualties, injuries, and damage to infrastructure and civilian facilities, represent a blatant violation of international law and an assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
The statement emphasized that these attacks pose a direct threat to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the safety of civilians, asserting that they are "a serious escalation that cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext."
The four countries reiterated their full solidarity with the Kingdom and their support for all legitimate measures and steps it takes to confront the attacks, deter sources of threat, and prevent their recurrence, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law.
The statement held the Houthi terrorist militia fully responsible for the attacks and their implications for regional and international security and peace, calling for an "immediate and unconditional" cessation of these attacks, in a stance that links the protection of Saudi territory with preventing the escalation of tensions in the region.
This statement follows the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, which resulted in fatalities and injuries to more than 300 people, and the airport was subjected to a new attack that caused a fire to break out.
The four countries had previously affirmed, in an earlier statement issued after a meeting of their foreign ministers in New York last September, their support for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of coordination, dialogue, and diplomacy to contain regional tensions.
