The Yemeni Armed Forces regained the initiative on several combat fronts in Taiz Governorate on (Monday), thwarting infiltration attempts and attacks carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia, amidst fierce clashes that resulted in hundreds of casualties among the militia, according to what was revealed by Colonel Abdulbasit Al-Bahr, Deputy Head of the Moral Guidance Department of the Taiz Axis.
Fierce Clashes in Al-Shamayatain
Al-Bahr stated in remarks to "Okaz": that units from the armed forces, security, and popular resistance engaged in fierce confrontations in the Al-Shamayatain, Al-Mawaset, and Al-Mafer fronts, in addition to other fronts, managing to secure their positions and regain the initiative after infiltration attempts by Houthi elements and cells. He added that the militia suffered losses due to well-planned ambushes, sniper fire, drone strikes, and direct clashes, coinciding with airstrikes targeting Houthi positions, reinforcements, and military movements on several fronts.
He pointed out that the support and reinforcement forces, "The Giants Brigades," made progress from the Al-Ara’a Road - Al-Waziyah, in an effort to outflank the militia and reach the road through which they created the offensive breach towards the main road between Al-Turbah and Taiz, noting the progress of the forces in the Yafras area in the Jabal Habashi district, and the burning of Houthi vehicles and armored units, along with the capture of several militia members.
Al-Bahr added that fierce clashes took place last night in northern Taiz, in the areas of Aseefra, Al-Arbaeen, and Wadi Al-Zanouj, during which the forces managed to repel Houthi attacks and drive back militia elements, while the eastern outlet of the city witnessed confrontations early today that ended with the destruction of Houthi vehicles and forcing the remaining militia members to retreat and flee.
Wider Military Plans
In western Taiz, the confrontations extended to the vicinity of Al-Han, Wadi Hadharan, Al-Dumeina, and Ansouwa, as well as the vicinity of the old airport camp, Madarat, and Wadi Hanish, amidst fierce clashes and artillery shelling exchanges, which, according to Al-Bahr, ended with the militia's defeat and the flight of the remaining elements.
Al-Bahr confirmed that the armed forces have doubled their combat readiness on various fronts, as part of broader military plans to reclaim what remains of the country's territories, praising the steadfastness of the people of Taiz Governorate, which he said has "resisted the militias and has turned into a graveyard for foreign invaders and their fighters and destructive sabotage projects."
