The spokesperson for the government forces announced that the Giants Forces and the National Shield have taken control of Bab al-Mandab. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, confirmed the launch of Operation "Dawn of Yemen" to restore state institutions, liberate Sana'a, and end the coup.
He stated in a post on X platform today (Monday): "With the will of our people, the bravery of our forces, and the support of our brothers, Yemen will move towards a new dawn of freedom, peace, and stability."
Establishing state authority over the entire national territory
Al-Alimi launched (on Sunday) military operations to reclaim what remains of the republic's territory and to establish state authority and its institutions over the entire national territory, following what he described as the exhaustion of opportunities for calm. In a notable development, the National Shield Forces and the Giants Brigades, supported by popular resistance, managed today to liberate the Dhubab district and strategic sites around the Bab al-Mandab Strait, west of Taiz Governorate, after clashes with the terrorist Houthi militias. The government forces announced the cutting of the road between Dhubab and Al-Makha and tightening fire control over it.
Extensive military operation with air cover
A military source told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that forces from the National Shield and the Giants Brigades carried out an extensive military operation with air cover targeting the sites and movements of the Houthi militias in several areas of the district, during which they managed to advance and take control of important sites, cutting off supply lines and roads leading to Bab al-Mandab. The source added that the clashes resulted in a number of casualties among the Houthi militias, and the remaining elements fled under the pressure of military operations, confirming the destruction and damage of several military vehicles and equipment.
As the Yemeni forces advanced northward along the western coast with air cover, military sources reported that the government forces continued their advance towards the city of Al-Makha after taking control of Dhubab, confirming that they are proceeding according to the approved plans in the battle to end the coup.
The sources confirmed the encirclement of elements of the Houthi militias in the Bab al-Mandab sector and Meon Island, moving towards the Al-Amari camp after capturing dozens of Houthi elements.
Cutting off the Houthi supply line
A government military source clarified that the Yemeni forces have regained areas surrounding Bab al-Mandab, in southwestern Yemen, and have approached completely cutting off the Houthi group's supply line to the Dhubab area, in a military move that has been ongoing since the morning with intensive air cover. The source stated that units from the Giants Brigades and the National Shield Forces, supported by tribal fighters, entered Dhubab Airport and the new Victory Road after executing a maneuver from behind the village of Al-Suqya, according to the German News Agency (dpa). He pointed out that the forces executed a tight ambush that led to separating the Houthi forces present in Bab al-Mandab from those in the Dhubab area. He added that the joint forces managed to cut the road linking Al-Suqya to the Al-Amari camp, which, according to field information, led to the encirclement of Houthi elements in the Bab al-Mandab sector and Meon Island. He spoke about the continuation of military operations on the western coast under air cover amid "significant advances by the joint forces and the surrender of many Houthi elements."
