أكد وكيل محافظة أرخبيل سقطرى العميد صالح علي السقطري أن الدعم التنموي والإنساني والإغاثي والخدمي الشامل الذي تقدمه السعودية شكل شريان الحياة والركيزة الأساسية والشريك الأساسي في تنمية المحافظة واستقرارها وتأمين سبل العيش الكريم لسكان الأرخبيل، مشيراً إلى أن الجهود السعودية حوّلت التحديات المناخية والخدمية الجسيمة التي تواجهها المحافظة إلى نهضة حقيقية وملموسة في مختلف القطاعات الحيوية.
وأوضح العميد صالح السقطري في تصريح لـ «عكاظ»، أن المشاريع النوعية المتكاملة للسعودية بين الذراع التنموي «البرنامج السعودي لتنمية وإعمار اليمن»، والذراع الإنساني «مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية»، والدور الميداني الأمني والإنساني الفاعل لقوات التحالف (قوات الواجب للدعم والإسناد 808)، صنعت فارقاً جوهرياً في بنية المحافظة التحتية، وأسهمت في تأمين الخدمات الأساسية للمواطنين في ظل الأزمات ومواسم الجفاف.
وأعرب وكيل سقطرى بالشكر والتقدير لخادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبد العزيز، وولي عهده رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، وللحكومة والشعب السعودي على ما قدموه ويقدمونه من جهود متواصلة لخدمة أبناء سقطرى، مثمناً الحضور الميداني والخطوات الجبارة التي يجريها سفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى اليمن محمد سعيد آل جابر، وتفقده المستمر لحاجات الأرخبيل عن قرب.

مشاريع حيوية أنقذت سقطرى من الجفاف
واستعرض العميد السقطري خريطة المشاريع التنموية الحيوية التي نفذها «البرنامج السعودي لتنمية وإعمار اليمن»، وفي مقدمتها قطاع المياه والبيئة الذي شهد طفرة استثنائية أسهمت في إنقاذ الأرخبيل من شح المياه، لا سيما خلال موسم الجفاف القاسي هذا العام.
حلول جذرية لأزمة المياه
وأضاف أن المشاريع والمبادرات التنموية شملت حفر وتصميم وتجهيز خمسة آبار حيوية في حديبو، وإنشاء خزانين استراتيجيين بسعة 800 و400 متر مكعب، وبناء الحواجز المائية في منطقة «دنجهن» المطلة على العاصمة، فضلاً عن توريد أنابيب المياه لمؤسسة المياه بنوجد وتوفير صهاريج مياه الشرب، مؤكداً أنه لولا هذه المشاريع بفضل الله وحكمته لكان السكان في وضع إنساني بالغ الصعوبة.
تجهيز المستشفيات
تعزيز منظومة الطاقة والوقود
وفي قطاع الطاقة والبنية التحتية، بيّن وكيل سقطرى أن البرنامج السعودي نجح في تعزيز القدرة الكهربائية عبر إنشاء محطتي توليد الكهرباء في حديبو وقلنسية، وتوفير المولدات الكهربائية بقدرة 585 كيلوات لمطار سقطرى، وتأمين خزانات الوقود الرئيسية ومنظومات التحكم وسور الحماية لتوليد الكهرباء بحديبو، بجانب تزويد المؤسسات الخدمية بالمشتقات النفطية اللازمة لدوران عجلة الحياة في قطاعي الكهرباء والمياه.
نهضة صحية وتعليمية شاملة
وأشار العميد السقطري إلى أن النهضة التنموية طالت القطاع الصحي؛ إذ تجسدت أبرز النجاحات في تطوير وترميم المراكز الصحية في نوجد وعمدها، وتجهيز مركز الأمومة والطفولة بسيارات الإسعاف والخدمات، وتأثيثها بالتقنيات الطبية الحديثة، وهو ما أثمر رسمياً عن ترقية المركز الصحي بنوجد وإعلانه «مستشفى ريفي» يخدم كافة أبناء المناطق المجاورة، إضافة إلى الدعم الجاري لمشاريع التعليم العالي كبناء وتجهيز المعهد الفني والتدريب المهني وكلية التربية.
تطوير التعليم والموانئ والطرق
وعلى صعيد قطاع التعليم العام والنقل والموانئ، أشار إلى إنشاء المملكة أربع مدارس حديثة في (سرهن، قاضب، ديحمض، قلنسية)، وتوريد مئات الطاولات والأثاث المدرسي، وتوزيع المناهج الدراسية، وتوفير حافلات لنقل الطلاب والتربية، فضلاً عن دعم الميناء بمبنى جديد للإدارة وتجهيزه بـ (كرين) و(فوركليفت)، وتزويد المطار بعربة إطفاء حديثة، إلى جانب رصف الطرق الداخلية بحديبو، وتوفير آليات ثقيلة من بلودزرات ولودرات وبوكلين لشق وتأهيل الطرق الترابية المتضررة أثناء موسم الأمطار، وتوفير شاحنات النظافة والمعدات لدعم المرأة والجمعيات الحرفية.
مبادرات إنسانية وتمكين مجتمعي
وحول الجهود الإغاثية والإنسانية لمركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية، لفت وكيل سقطرى أن المركز قدم نموذجاً رائداً في تحقيق الاستدامة وتمكين المجتمع المحلي لتخفيف الضغط على الموارد الطبيعية الفريدة للأرخبيل؛ حيث تنوعت البرامج بين توزيع عشرات الآلاف من السلال الغذائية المستمرة حتى عام 2026، ودعم الأمن الغذائي والأسر المتضررة، وتأمين المساعدات الإيوائية والخيام، إلى جانب دعم تمكين الشباب والنساء وتحسين سبل العيش عبر مشاريع التدريب والتمكين الزراعي والسمكي بتوزيع قوارب الصيد وأدوات السلامة وإنشاء الحدائق المنزلية ودعم مربي الثروة الحيوانية ووحدات الغاز الحيوي.
إسناد ميداني وبرامج ابتعاث
واختتم العميد السقطري تصريحه بتقديره البالغ لدور قوات الواجب (808) التابعة للتحالف في الإسناد والتكامل مع السلطة المحلية، وتقديم العون الإنساني المباشر وإمداد المناطق الغربية بالمياه والمساعدات أثناء الجفاف، مؤكداً وجود تواصل وتنسيق وثيق مستمر لإطلاق برامج ابتعاث جامعي لأبناء الأرخبيل إلى السعودية لتأهيل كوادر شابة تسهم في بناء مستقبل سقطرى التنموي والبيئي.
The Deputy Governor of Socotra Archipelago, Brigadier General Saleh Ali Al-Suqutri, confirmed that the comprehensive developmental, humanitarian, relief, and service support provided by Saudi Arabia has formed a lifeline and the main pillar and partner in the development of the governorate, its stability, and securing a decent livelihood for the residents of the archipelago. He pointed out that the Saudi efforts have transformed the severe climatic and service challenges faced by the governorate into a real and tangible renaissance in various vital sectors.
Brigadier General Saleh Al-Suqutri explained in a statement to "Okaz" that the integrated qualitative projects of Saudi Arabia, between the developmental arm "Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen" and the humanitarian arm "King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works," along with the active field, security, and humanitarian role of the coalition forces (Task Force 808 for Support and Assistance), have made a significant difference in the infrastructure of the governorate and contributed to securing basic services for citizens amid crises and drought seasons.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to his Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, as well as to the Saudi government and people for their continuous efforts to serve the people of Socotra, praising the field presence and tremendous steps taken by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Yemen, Mohammed Saeed Al-Jaber, and his continuous monitoring of the needs of the archipelago up close.

Vital Projects That Saved Socotra from Drought
Brigadier General Al-Suqutri reviewed the map of vital developmental projects implemented by the "Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen," foremost among them the water and environment sector, which witnessed an exceptional leap that contributed to saving the archipelago from water scarcity, especially during this year's harsh drought season.
Radical Solutions to the Water Crisis
He added that the developmental projects and initiatives included drilling, designing, and equipping five vital wells in Hadibo, creating two strategic tanks with capacities of 800 and 400 cubic meters, building water barriers in the "Danjhan" area overlooking the capital, in addition to supplying water pipes to the water institution in Nujd and providing drinking water tanks, confirming that without these projects, thanks to God and His wisdom, the residents would have been in an extremely difficult humanitarian situation.

Enhancing the Energy and Fuel System
In the energy and infrastructure sector, the Deputy Governor of Socotra indicated that the Saudi program succeeded in enhancing electrical capacity by establishing two electricity generation stations in Hadibo and Qalansiyah, providing electric generators with a capacity of 585 kilowatts for Socotra Airport, securing main fuel tanks and control systems, and protective walls for electricity generation in Hadibo, in addition to supplying service institutions with the necessary oil derivatives to keep the wheels of life turning in the electricity and water sectors.
Comprehensive Health and Educational Renaissance
Brigadier General Al-Suqutri pointed out that the developmental renaissance has also reached the health sector, as the most prominent successes were embodied in the development and renovation of health centers in Nujd and Amad, equipping the mother and child center with ambulances and services, and furnishing it with modern medical technologies, which officially resulted in the upgrading of the health center in Nujd and its announcement as a "Rural Hospital" serving all residents of the neighboring areas, in addition to ongoing support for higher education projects such as building and equipping the technical institute and vocational training and the College of Education.
Developing Education, Ports, and Roads
Regarding the public education, transportation, and ports sector, he mentioned the establishment of four modern schools in (Sarhan, Qadib, Dihamdh, Qalansiyah), supplying hundreds of desks and school furniture, distributing curricula, providing buses for student transportation and education, in addition to supporting the port with a new administrative building equipped with a crane and forklift, supplying the airport with a modern fire truck, as well as paving internal roads in Hadibo, providing heavy machinery such as bulldozers, loaders, and excavators to clear and rehabilitate dirt roads damaged during the rainy season, and supplying cleaning trucks and equipment to support women and artisanal associations.
Humanitarian Initiatives and Community Empowerment
Regarding the relief and humanitarian efforts of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works, the Deputy Governor of Socotra pointed out that the center has provided a pioneering model in achieving sustainability and empowering the local community to alleviate pressure on the unique natural resources of the archipelago; as the programs varied between distributing tens of thousands of food baskets continuing until 2026, supporting food security and affected families, securing shelter assistance and tents, in addition to supporting the empowerment of youth and women and improving livelihoods through training projects and agricultural and fishery empowerment by distributing fishing boats and safety equipment, creating home gardens, supporting livestock breeders, and biogas units.
Field Support and Scholarship Programs
Brigadier General Al-Suqutri concluded his statement by expressing his deep appreciation for the role of the Task Force (808) of the coalition in providing support and integration with the local authority, offering direct humanitarian assistance, and supplying the western regions with water and aid during the drought, confirming the existence of continuous communication and close coordination to launch university scholarship programs for the children of the archipelago to Saudi Arabia to qualify young cadres that contribute to building the developmental and environmental future of Socotra.
