The Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh Al-Yafei, confirmed that Aden represents a very important strategic extension both by land and sea, and that it is the southern gateway to one of the most important maritime straits. He considered the recovery of the island of Meon, which is an integral part of the capital Aden and belongs to the Al-Mualla district, to be a top priority and a significant concern. He stated in an interview with "Okaz": Aden has been, and will continue to be, with God's permission, the gateway to great victory, and from it will begin the restoration of the state and the defeat of the Houthi militia's coup project.
Developing the Attack on All Fronts
He pointed out that he is confident in God's victory and the steadfastness of the loyal men from the armed forces and the valiant resistance, which play a role in supporting and stabilizing the fronts on the path to developing the attack on all fronts and recovering the land and institutions. He added that Aden, as the capital of the state and home to the government, faces all challenges, whether security, military, humanitarian, or service-related, and that the local authority is trying to provide everything it can. There is no fear for Aden; it is protected by God's strength and then by its men and partners, foremost among them our brothers in Saudi Arabia, whom we thank for all they provide to support their brothers in the battle of destiny.
Thank You to the Kingdom, Leadership, and People
The Governor of Aden expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom, its leadership, people, armed forces, and joint forces for their support in enhancing the efficiency of the confrontation first, organizing the ranks, unifying all fronts, stabilizing advanced positions, and closing all the outlets through which the Houthis infiltrate, then taking the initiative and launching a chronic attack from all fronts. He confirmed that the Houthi militia is incapable of fighting on all fronts.
Absorbing and Accommodating the Wave of Displaced Persons
He noted that unifying all forces, even if they differ politically, is extremely important because the Houthis are an enemy that targets everyone. He clarified that the local authority was proactive in absorbing and accommodating the unexpected waves of displaced persons in terms of timing and size, and it responded with urgent humanitarian assistance by establishing the Al-Firdaws camp in the city of Amran in the Buraiqa district and providing all basic necessities such as tents, food meals, protection, water, medical care, and health service facilities, in addition to distributing food baskets and cash aid, renting residential apartments, and evacuating the bodies of martyrs from contact sites and transporting the wounded and treating them in hospitals in the capital Aden, which is protected by God and fortified by men who defend it and brothers who support and assist it.
Stabilizing the Security Situation in Aden
He said: "Things are developing from good to better, God willing." He pointed out that the local authority and its team are working on more than one front according to priorities and developments in terms of stabilizing the security situation in the capital and maintaining the normalization of life and its usual course, doubling security efforts and raising security alertness, enhancing and supplying the fronts with fighters from volunteers, working on stabilizing the fronts, and building successive combat formations that are difficult to penetrate, accommodating the displaced, providing assistance, establishing camps, supporting the health sector, providing care for the wounded and injured, and ensuring the continuity and provision of basic services within the available limits and capabilities.
Support from the Kingdom and the Steadfastness of the Government
The Governor of Aden clarified that "the support from the Kingdom has been a decisive factor in our steadfastness and the stability of the government and local authorities in the field," pointing out its support for the electricity sector by providing fuel that worked to stabilize the generation system, and supporting military and security forces with amounts exceeding 700 million Saudi riyals monthly, and providing the government with large sums for the emergency budget and for the salaries of civilian employees for six months.
He said: "We in the capital Aden, in the south, and in Yemen in general, as a people, government, and local authorities, highly appreciate the honorable positions of the Kingdom and its unlimited support, starting from Operation Decisive Storm, through political positions, and economic and humanitarian support. Today, we renew our partnership based on mutual trust, shared destiny, and common interests."
He concluded by saying that Aden is the first line of defense for the Arabian Peninsula and the Arab and Islamic nation, and that there is no future or security in the presence of the Houthis and their coup project.
