The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Chairman of the General Secretariat for Fatwas in the World, Dr. Nazih Muhammad Iyad, expressed his sorrow over the attempts to target the most honorable place on earth, Mecca, emphasizing that exposing the sacred land to danger is deeply distressing; due to the sanctity and reverence that Allah has bestowed upon Mecca, and its firmly established status in the beliefs and hearts of Muslims, as it is their qibla and the destination of their hearts, the land that Allah has made a secure sanctuary.
The Mufti of Egypt confirmed, in an official statement today (Thursday), that the sanctity of Mecca should not be a subject of any political calculations or narrow conflicts, and that the security of the sacred land and the two holy mosques, as well as their visitors, is a trust that transcends political and geographical considerations, requiring everyone to respect the sanctity of the place and ensure its safety, and not expose it or those who come to it to any form of danger or intimidation.
He stressed that sacred places should not be involved in conflicts, nor should the repercussions of confrontations extend to them, pointing out that harming this sacred land does not only target a place, but also affects the feelings of Muslims in the east and west of the earth.
The Grand Mufti of Egypt concluded with a prayer: "May Allah protect the lands of the two holy mosques from the aggressors' attacks, and grant them and their people and visitors the blessing of security, safety, peace, and stability."
