أعلن رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو أن الجيش الإسرائيلي استولى على كميات من الأسلحة في مرتفعات علي الطاهر بجنوب لبنان، قال إنها أُرسلت من إيران ومُوّلت على مدى سنوات، وتشمل مدفعاً مضاداً للطائرات وصواريخ وألغاماً وأجهزة حاسوب.
وأكد نتنياهو، خلال جولة قرب المطلة على الحدود اللبنانية، أن القوات الإسرائيلية أخرجت هذه الأسلحة من المنطقة، فيما أعلن وزير الدفاع يسرائيل كاتس تدمير أنفاق وصفها بأنها كانت معقلاً لحزب الله وخط مواجهة متقدماً، مشيراً إلى احتوائها على أسلحة وذخائر.
وقال كاتس إن العمليات داخل الأراضي اللبنانية تهدف إلى إزالة تهديدات الغارات والنيران المباشرة عن البلدات الإسرائيلية، مؤكداً استمرار تدمير الأنفاق والمنشآت التابعة لحزب الله، بالتزامن مع إقامة ما وصفها بـ«منطقة أمنية محصنة» تمتد من الساحل غرباً إلى منطقة شقيف ومداخل جبل الشيخ شرقاً.
بدوره، أعلن رئيس أركان الجيش الإسرائيلي إيال زامير تدمير بنى تحتية تحت الأرض تابعة لحزب الله في المنطقة، قال إنها استخدمت للقيادة والسيطرة والقتال بدعم إيراني، محذراً من «رد فوري وقوي» على أي هجوم يستهدف البلدات أو القوات الإسرائيلية.
وكان الجيش الإسرائيلي قد أعلن تدمير شبكة أنفاق في علي الطاهر باستخدام أكثر من 1100 طن من المتفجرات، فيما تأتي التطورات قبيل جولة جديدة من المحادثةات الإسرائيلية ـ اللبنانية المرتقبة في روما الأسبوع القادم بوساطة أمريكية.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli army seized quantities of weapons in the Ali al-Tahir Heights in southern Lebanon, which he said were sent from Iran and funded over the years, including an anti-aircraft gun, missiles, mines, and computers.
Netanyahu confirmed, during a tour near the Metula on the Lebanese border, that Israeli forces removed these weapons from the area, while Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the destruction of tunnels he described as a stronghold for Hezbollah and an advanced frontline, noting that they contained weapons and ammunition.
Katz stated that operations inside Lebanese territory aim to eliminate threats from airstrikes and direct fire on Israeli towns, emphasizing the continued destruction of tunnels and facilities belonging to Hezbollah, alongside the establishment of what he described as a "fortified security zone" extending from the coast to the west to the Sheqif area and the entrances to Mount Hermon to the east.
For his part, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir announced the destruction of underground infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah in the area, which he said was used for command, control, and combat with Iranian support, warning of a "swift and strong response" to any attack targeting Israeli towns or forces.
The Israeli army had announced the destruction of a tunnel network in Ali al-Tahir using more than 1,100 tons of explosives, while the developments come ahead of a new round of anticipated Israeli-Lebanese talks in Rome next week, mediated by the United States.
