أكدت مسؤولة السياسة الخارجية في الاتحاد الأوروبي كايا كالاس، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، استعداد أكثر من 10 دول أعضاء في التكتل للمساهمة بمواردها وكوادرها في مهمة عسكرية ومدنية جديدة لتقديم المشورة والتدريب للقوات اللبنانية.
جاءت تصريحات كالاس عقب اجتماع لوزراء دفاع الاتحاد الأوروبي في أيرلندا، لمناقشة إرسال بعثة تابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي إلى لبنان. تهدف البعثة إلى تعزيز قدرات قوى الأمن الداخلي اللبنانية، بما يتيح للجيش اللبناني التركيز على نزع سلاح «حزب الله».
وذكر مصدر دبلوماسي فرنسي، اليوم، أن مشاورات وثيقة تجري حالياً بين فرنسا وعدد من شركائها في مجلس الأمن الدولي بشأن مستقبل الوجود الدولي في لبنان، في ظل التحضيرات لانسحاب قوة الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة في لبنان «اليونيفيل»، مبيناً أن فرنسا وإيطاليا تعملان على وضع خطة تهدف إلى الحفاظ على وجود دولي في لبنان بعد انسحاب «اليونيفيل»، على أن يكون هذا الوجود مدعوماً من الأمم المتحدة.
وقال المصدر: الخطة الفرنسية الإيطالية تهدف إلى ضمان استقرار الوضع في لبنان في أقرب وقت ممكن، من خلال مواصلة التنسيق الدولي خلال المرحلة التي ستلي انتهاء مهمة القوة الأممية «اليونيفيل».
ويقترب تفويض قوة الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة في لبنان «يونيفيل» من الانتهاء بنهاية عام 2026، ما يتيح للجيش اللبناني التفرغ لنزع سلاح جماعة حزب الله.
The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, confirmed today (Tuesday) that more than 10 member states of the bloc are ready to contribute their resources and personnel to a new military and civilian mission to provide advice and training to the Lebanese forces.
These statements came after a meeting of EU defense ministers in Ireland to discuss sending an EU mission to Lebanon. The mission aims to enhance the capabilities of the Lebanese internal security forces, allowing the Lebanese army to focus on disarming Hezbollah.
A French diplomatic source mentioned today that close consultations are currently taking place between France and several of its partners in the UN Security Council regarding the future of the international presence in Lebanon, in light of preparations for the withdrawal of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The source indicated that France and Italy are working on a plan aimed at maintaining an international presence in Lebanon after the withdrawal of UNIFIL, which would be supported by the United Nations.
The source stated: The French-Italian plan aims to ensure the stability of the situation in Lebanon as soon as possible by continuing international coordination during the phase that will follow the end of the UNIFIL mission.
The mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is set to expire at the end of 2026, allowing the Lebanese army to focus on disarming the Hezbollah group.
