أعلنت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية تعهد الولايات المتحدة بتقديم 15.5 مليون دولار من المساعدات الطارئة إلى كولومبيا، عقب الزلزال العنيف الذي بلغت قوته 7.4 درجة، وأسفر عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 111 شخصاً وإصابة العشرات، فيما لحقت أضرار بمئات المباني في مناطق عدة.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، في منشور عبر منصة «إكس»، إن إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب ملتزمة بتوفير التمويل اللازم لتقديم المأوى الطارئ والغذاء والحماية وتقييم الأضرار في المناطق التي ضربها الزلزال.
وأضافت الوزارة أنها تقف إلى جانب الشعب الكولومبي، مؤكدة استعدادها لدعم الرئيس أبيلاردو دي لا إسبرييلا وحكومته خلال تقييم الاحتياجات على الأرض والاستجابة لتداعيات الكارثة.
واشنطن تتابع أوضاع الأمريكيين في كولومبيا
وفي سياق متصل، أعلن المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية تومي بيغوت أن الوزارة تعمل بصورة نشطة على مساعدة المواطنين الأمريكيين الذين تضرروا من الزلزال.
ودعا بيغوت المواطنين الأمريكيين الموجودين في كولومبيا إلى التواصل مع السفارة الأمريكية في العاصمة بوغوتا للحصول على المساعدة القنصلية اللازمة.
وتأتي هذه الخطوة في إطار تحرك أمريكي لمتابعة أوضاع الرعايا الأمريكيين في المناطق المتضررة، بالتزامن مع جهود السلطات الكولومبية لإغاثة السكان وحصر الخسائر.
مركز الزلزال قرب سان خوسيه ديل بالمار
ووفق هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية، وقع الزلزال بالقرب من مدينة سان خوسيه ديل بالمار في إقليم تشوكو، على بعد نحو 400 كيلومتر غرب العاصمة بوغوتا، وعلى عمق يقدر بنحو 107 كيلومترات تحت سطح الأرض.
وأدى الزلزال القوي إلى سقوط ما لا يقل عن 111 قتيلاً و87 مصاباً، فيما أفادت السلطات الكولومبية بأن نحو 1,600 مبنى تعرضت لأضرار متفاوتة.
كما انهار ما لا يقل عن 61 مبنى ومنشأة بشكل كامل، وسط استمرار عمليات البحث والإنقاذ وتقييم الأضرار في المناطق الأكثر تضرراً.
مساعدات أمريكية لتغطية الاحتياجات العاجلة
ومن المنتظر أن تركز المساعدات الأمريكية البالغة 15.5 مليون دولار على توفير الاحتياجات الأساسية للمتضررين، وفي مقدمتها أماكن الإيواء والغذاء والحماية، إلى جانب دعم عمليات تقييم الأضرار الناجمة عن الزلزال.
ويأتي الدعم الأمريكي في وقت تواجه فيه السلطات الكولومبية تحديات كبيرة للتعامل مع آثار الزلزال، بما في ذلك إجلاء السكان من المباني المتضررة وتوفير المساعدات للمناطق التي لحقت بها أضرار واسعة.

The U.S. Department of State stated in a post on the platform "X" that the administration of President Donald Trump is committed to providing the necessary funding to offer emergency shelter, food, protection, and assess the damage in the areas affected by the earthquake.
The department added that it stands with the Colombian people, affirming its readiness to support President Abelardo de la Espriella and his government during the assessment of needs on the ground and responding to the aftermath of the disaster.
Washington monitors the situation of Americans in Colombia
In a related context, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott announced that the department is actively working to assist American citizens affected by the earthquake.
Pigott urged American citizens in Colombia to contact the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Bogotá, for the necessary consular assistance.
This step is part of an American effort to monitor the situation of American nationals in the affected areas, coinciding with the efforts of Colombian authorities to assist the population and assess the damages.
The epicenter of the earthquake near San José del Palmar
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred near the city of San José del Palmar in the Chocó region, about 400 kilometers west of the capital, Bogotá, at a depth estimated to be around 107 kilometers below the surface.
The powerful earthquake resulted in at least 111 fatalities and 87 injuries, while Colombian authorities reported that approximately 1,600 buildings sustained varying degrees of damage.
At least 61 buildings and structures completely collapsed, amid ongoing search and rescue operations and damage assessments in the most affected areas.
American aid to cover urgent needs
The $15.5 million in American aid is expected to focus on providing the basic needs of those affected, primarily shelter, food, and protection, along with supporting damage assessment operations resulting from the earthquake.
This American support comes at a time when Colombian authorities are facing significant challenges in dealing with the aftermath of the earthquake, including evacuating residents from damaged buildings and providing assistance to areas that have suffered extensive damage.
