In its first official statement, the Egyptian Damietta Port Authority announced the continuation of operational activities at the port with full efficiency, following the Egyptian Cabinet's announcement that the attack on Damietta Port, which occurred last night (Wednesday), was caused by a drone.

The Damietta Port Authority stated in its announcement today (Thursday) that various terminals and docks are witnessing regularity in the movement of ship arrivals and departures, in addition to the ongoing loading and unloading operations and the handling of goods of all types according to the established operational rates.

The authority indicated that the port continues to provide its maritime and logistical services around the clock without interruption, meeting the needs of shipping lines and those dealing with the port. The trading movement at the port is also regular across all sectors to ensure the smooth flow of operations and maintain the targeted operational rates.

The Egyptian government announced that the attack on Damietta Port, which occurred last night (Wednesday), was caused by a drone.

According to an official statement issued by the Egyptian Cabinet today (Thursday), after controlling the fire that affected two ships at Damietta Port on July 29, 2026, and conducting preliminary investigations by the relevant authorities regarding the incident, it was found that it was caused by a drone, and no party has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The Egyptian government confirmed that the relevant authorities continue to complete the investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary measures to protect Egypt's interests and national security.

The explosions witnessed at Damietta Port in Egypt today (Wednesday) have raised widespread questions about their causes, following reports suggesting that a facility for storing natural gas may have been attacked by a drone. Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced the control of a fire that broke out inside the port, confirming that no injuries or human losses were recorded, while investigations continue to uncover the circumstances of the incident.

Reuters reported that the British company "Ambrey," specialized in maritime security, stated that a floating facility for storing liquefied natural gas owned by an American company and operated by it, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, was hit by a drone while at Damietta Port.

Additionally, the company "Inchcape" reported a fire outbreak in two gas carriers inside the port during the unloading operations, indicating that the two ships were pulled out of the port, with expectations of resuming work at the other docks and terminals.
