أثارت الانفجارات التي شهدها ميناء دمياط في مصر، اليوم (الأربعاء)، تساؤلات واسعة حول أسبابها، بعد تقارير تحدثت عن احتمال تعرض منشأة عائمة لتخزين الغاز الطبيعي لهجوم بطائرة مسيّرة، في حين أعلنت وزارة البترول والثروة المعدنية المصرية السيطرة على حريق اندلع داخل الميناء، مؤكدة عدم تسجيل أي إصابات أو خسائر بشرية، مع استمرار التحقيقات لكشف ملابسات الحادث.
تقارير عن هجوم
وكانت وكالة «رويترز» قد نقلت عن شركة «أمبري» البريطانية المتخصصة في الأمن البحري أن منشأة عائمة لتخزين الغاز الطبيعي المسال مملوكة لشركة أمريكية وتدار بمعرفتها، وترفع علم جزر مارشال، تعرضت لإصابة بطائرة مسيّرة أثناء وجودها في ميناء دمياط.
كما أفادت شركة «إنشكيب» لخدمات الموانئ باندلاع حريق في ناقلتي غاز داخل الميناء خلال عمليات تفريغ الشحنة، مشيرة إلى أنه تم سحب السفينتين خارج الميناء، مع توقع استئناف العمل في الأرصفة والمحطات الأخرى.
بيان وزارة البترول
وأكدت وزارة البترول والثروة المعدنية، في بيان رسمي، أنه «في إطار المتابعة الفورية لأي أحداث طارئة، وقع حريق على سفينة التغويز وسفينة التخزين المتواجدتين بميناء دمياط، وقد تم التعامل مع الموقف على الفور وفقاً لخطط الطوارئ والاستجابة السريعة المعتمدة، من خلال الجهات المختصة وفرق الإطفاء والتأمين بالموقع».
وأضافت الوزارة أن وزير البترول والثروة المعدنية المهندس كريم بدوي انتقل فور تلقي البلاغ إلى موقع الحادث لمتابعة الموقف ميدانياً، والاطمئنان على سير أعمال السيطرة والتأمين، والتأكد من تنفيذ جميع إجراءات السلامة والتنسيق الكامل بين مختلف الجهات المعنية حتى انتهاء التعامل مع الموقف بصورة آمنة.
وشددت الوزارة على أن الحادث لم يسفر عن أي إصابات أو خسائر بشرية، مؤكدة أن فرق الطوارئ تواصل، بالتنسيق مع الجهات الفنية المختصة، استكمال الأعمال واتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة وفقاً للمعايير المعتمدة، فيما جارٍ اتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة للوقوف على تداعيات الموقف.
كما دعت الوزارة وسائل الإعلام ورواد مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي إلى استقاء المعلومات من البيانات الرسمية الصادرة عنها، مؤكدة استمرار المتابعة اللحظية للموقف والإعلان عن أي مستجدات.
رواية الخبير العسكري
من جانبه، قال الخبير العسكري والإستراتيجي المصري سمير راغب إن الحادث عبارة عن حريق في غرفة المحركات بسفينة متهالكة، تمت السيطرة عليه وسحبها خارج رصيف الميناء، مؤكداً عدم وقوع خسائر في الميناء أو خزانات الغاز أو السفن الأخرى، ونافياً ما تردد بشأن تعرض سفينة أمريكية لهجوم بطائرة مسيّرة.
ويترقب المراقبون نتائج التحقيقات الرسمية التي ستحدد أسباب الحريق وملابساته، في ظل الاهتمام الذي يحظى به ميناء دمياط باعتباره أحد أهم موانئ تداول الغاز الطبيعي المسال والطاقة في مصر على البحر المتوسط.
The explosions that occurred at the port of Damietta in Egypt today (Wednesday) have raised widespread questions about their causes, following reports that suggested a floating facility for storing natural gas may have been attacked by a drone. Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced that a fire that broke out inside the port has been brought under control, confirming that no injuries or human losses have been recorded, while investigations continue to uncover the circumstances of the incident.
Reports of an Attack
Reuters reported that the British maritime security company "Ambrey" stated that a floating facility for storing liquefied natural gas, owned by an American company and operated under its management, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, was struck by a drone while at the port of Damietta.
The port services company "Inchcape" also reported a fire on two gas carriers inside the port during the unloading operations, noting that both vessels were pulled outside the port, with expectations to resume work at the docks and other terminals.
Statement from the Ministry of Petroleum
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources confirmed in an official statement that "in the context of immediate monitoring of any emergency events, a fire occurred on the regasification ship and the storage ship located at the port of Damietta, and the situation was immediately addressed according to the approved emergency and rapid response plans, by the relevant authorities and firefighting and security teams on site."
The ministry added that the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Karim Badawy, went to the site of the incident immediately after receiving the report to monitor the situation on the ground, ensure the control and security operations were proceeding smoothly, and verify that all safety procedures were being implemented with full coordination among the various concerned parties until the situation was safely resolved.
The ministry emphasized that the incident did not result in any injuries or human losses, confirming that emergency teams continue, in coordination with the relevant technical authorities, to complete the operations and take necessary measures according to the approved standards, while necessary steps are being taken to assess the implications of the situation.
The ministry also urged media outlets and social media users to obtain information from the official statements issued by it, confirming the ongoing real-time monitoring of the situation and announcing any updates.
Military Expert's Account
For his part, Egyptian military and strategic expert Samir Ragab stated that the incident involved a fire in the engine room of a dilapidated ship, which has been brought under control and pulled outside the port dock, confirming that there were no losses at the port, in the gas tanks, or on other ships, and denying rumors regarding an American ship being attacked by a drone.
Observers are awaiting the results of the official investigations that will determine the causes of the fire and its circumstances, given the interest that the port of Damietta receives as one of the most important ports for trading liquefied natural gas and energy in Egypt on the Mediterranean Sea.
