رغم التصعيد العسكري المتسارع في المنطقة، أعلنت باكستان، اليوم (الخميس)، أن المفاوضات بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران لا تزال مستمرة، موضحة أنها تبذل كل ما في وسعها لإعادة الطرفين إلى مسار التفاوض بموجب مذكرة التفاهم التي وُقعت بوساطة إسلام آباد في يونيو الماضي.
وقال المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الباكستانية، طاهر أنداربي، للصحفيين: بلادنا تعمل على إعادة جميع الأطراف إلى الالتزام بمذكرة التفاهم، مضيفاً أن باكستان تشجع البلدين على الالتزام الكامل بتعهداتهما بإجراء محادثات فنية بموجب هذه المذكرة، في وقت يتركز فيه التفاوض على خفض التصعيد ومستقبل الملاحة في مضيق هرمز.
وأفادت وسائل إعلام عربية بأن الوسطاء يعملون على التوصل لاتفاق لوقف النار بين إيران وأمريكا، لكنهم لم يفضوا حتى الآن لنتائج ملموسة لوقف التصعيد بين الجانبين.
ميدانياً، أعلنت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية «سنتكوم» اليوم شن موجة من الضربات على إيران استمرت ساعتين، استهدفت خلالها عشرات المواقع، واصفة الهجمات بأنها رد قوي على الصواريخ الإيرانية التي أُطلقت باتجاه القوات الأمريكية في الشرق الأوسط قبل يوم.
في المقابل، أفادت وسائل إعلام إيرانية رسمية بأن هجوماً أمريكياً على محافظة زنجان، بشمال إيران، أودى بحياة ثلاثة من عناصر الحرس الثوري اليوم.
وذكرت وسائل الإعلام الإيرانية أن موجة جديدة من الضربات الأمريكية التي استهدفت أكثر من 12 مدينة عبر 4 محافظات إيرانية، تركزت بشكل أساسي في الجنوب وشملت منشآت طاقة ومناطق سكنية أسفرت عن سقوط ضحايا ومصابين، لا سيما في جزيرة قشم.
من جهة أخرى، نقلت بلومبيرغ عن بيانات شركة كيبلر أن حركة الشحن عبر مضيق هرمز شهدت انتعاشاً ملحوظاً في الأيام الأخيرة على الرغم من استمرار الأعمال العدائية في الشرق الأوسط.
Despite the escalating military tensions in the region, Pakistan announced today (Thursday) that negotiations between the United States and Iran are still ongoing, clarifying that it is doing everything possible to bring both parties back to the negotiating track under the memorandum of understanding that was signed with Islamabad's mediation last June.
The spokesperson for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, Tahir Andarabi, told reporters: Our country is working to bring all parties back to adhere to the memorandum of understanding, adding that Pakistan encourages both countries to fully commit to their pledges to engage in technical talks under this memorandum, at a time when negotiations are focused on de-escalation and the future of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Arab media reported that mediators are working to reach a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the U.S., but they have not yet achieved tangible results to stop the escalation between the two sides.
On the ground, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today the launch of a wave of strikes on Iran that lasted two hours, targeting dozens of sites, describing the attacks as a strong response to the Iranian missiles that were fired at U.S. forces in the Middle East a day earlier.
In contrast, official Iranian media reported that a U.S. attack in Zanjan province, northern Iran, resulted in the deaths of three members of the Revolutionary Guard today.
Iranian media mentioned that a new wave of U.S. strikes targeting more than 12 cities across 4 Iranian provinces primarily focused in the south included energy facilities and residential areas, resulting in casualties and injuries, particularly in Qeshm Island.
On another note, Bloomberg reported from Kepler's data that shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has seen a noticeable recovery in recent days despite the ongoing hostilities in the Middle East.
